Biographical Information

Summarize your biography, including your education (degrees conferred, colleges and law school), career and employment experience, elected offices held or sought, community service activity, organizational affiliations, and other pertinent information.

Describe the general nature of your law practice or other legal work you have done, the typical clients you have represented, areas of specialty or concentration, and how much you have practiced in the court you seek/currently sit (including practice before another judge dealing with the same types of cases).

What qualities (e.g. temperament, diligence, etc.) and experiences do you have that make you a strong candidate for the judicial office you seek?

I was born and raised in Mountain View where I graduated from high school in 2003. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2010. I had the opportunity to immediately become a partner in an established firm in Anadarko (Caddo County) where I have practiced for over 15 years. I have practiced in practically every area of law that occurs in the courthouse. I served as Mayor of Anadarko for 6 years. I moved back home to raise my kids and now serve on the Mtn. View-Gotebo Board of Education. I am active in my church at First Baptist Church of Mountain View where I help teach on Sunday mornings and serve as part of our children's ministry team. I also serve as a board member for the Southwest Baptist Assembly Church Camp near Lake Lugert in Kiowa County. As a 6th generation resident of Kiowa County, this is home. I want to help ensure that we have a desirable place to live, work, and raise our families and a place for our kids and grandkids to call home, too.
I have practiced in numerous areas of law in western Oklahoma. From criminal defense, to probates, real estate transactions, civil litigation, juvenile law, and more. This wide range of experience has prepared me to preside over the variety of cases that an associate district judge sees each day. I currently serve as municipal judge in Verden and Binger and am 1 of 16 attorneys in Oklahoma who is appointed to review juvenile cases to ensure that judges followed the law and that their decisions are supported by sufficient evidence. This experience has shown me a variety of ways that judges run their courtrooms and has helped me to understand the best ways to handle jury trials and to ensure all parties receive a fair trial.
I have a wide range of experiences that will inform the way I handle my role as judge. I am patient and compassionate, but also firm and expect the law to be followed regardless of who appears in front of me. My experience with the drug court program (as defense counsel) together with my experience raising foster children from homes with serious substance abuse has created a passion in me to work every day to provide both an opportunity and accountability for those dealing with addiction. I want to ensure that our judiciary is using every tool at our disposal to administer justice and address problems in Kiowa County.
