THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE; the issuance of bonds in the amount of $391,500,000 for (1) school facilities, including campus renovations and district-wide safety and security upgrades, and (2) buses, and the levy of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds.
Proposition A would allow Manor ISD to borrow up to $391.5 million for school facilities, safety and security improvements, and new buses.
The district says the money would be used to expand Manor New Tech High School and rebuild Bluebonnet Trail Elementary; renovate and consolidate Manor High School and renovate other district facilities; make districtwide repairs and upgrades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting and accessibility improvements; improve school safety and security; and purchase new school buses. Property taxes would be used to repay the bonds and interest. Bond money can be used for the projects approved by voters but generally cannot be used for everyday operating expenses such as teacher salaries and utilities.
A vote FOR would authorize Manor ISD to issue up to $391.5 million in bonds and levy property taxes to repay them.
A vote AGAINST would not authorize the bonds.
