THIS IS A TAX INCREASE. Approving the annexation by the Austin Community College District of the following territory: the territory in the Pflugerville Independent School District that is not already within the Austin Community College taxing district, and
authorizing the imposition of an ad valorem tax for junior college purposes, which is currently set at a rate of $0.1034, per $100 valuation of taxable property.
This measure is on the ballot because residents of the Pflugerville ISD area collected signatures from at least 5% of registered voters and the ACC Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept the petition. The College itself is not for or against the measure. The law does allow the College to respond to questions and provide facts about annexation, which are available online. If passed, the measure would add the parts of Pflugerville Independent School District that are not already in the Austin Community College District to ACC's taxing district. Property in the newly annexed area would become subject to ACC property taxes. Residents of the newly annexed area would become in-district ACC residents, which would allow them to qualify for in-district tuition and participate in ACC Board of Trustees elections.
A vote FOR would add the proposed Pflugerville ISD territory to the ACC taxing district and authorize ACC property taxes in that area.
A vote AGAINST would keep the proposed territory outside the ACC taxing district.
