THIS IS A TAX INCREASE; the issuance of bonds in the amount of $35,000,000 for library facilities and the levy of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds.
Proposition B would allow the City of Austin to borrow up to $35 million for library facilities. The City has identified improvements to the Hampton at Oak Hill Branch Library and a new Colony Park Branch Library as priorities. The City estimates a maximum annual tax increase of $1.10 for each $100,000 of a residence homestead's appraised value, based on the assumptions in its voter information document.

A vote FOR would authorize the City to issue the bonds and levy property taxes to repay them.

A vote AGAINST would not authorize the bonds.
