Forest Hill City Council, Place 2 (Unexpired Term)

City councils in Texas each have specific responsibilities unique to their city. Duties of a city council generally include setting the tax rate, approving a budget, adopting local ordinances, and managing land transactions. City councils plan and oversee public services and facilities: police and fire protection; health and sanitation services; animal control; street construction and maintenance; garbage collection and disposal; transportation systems; recreational facilities; parking; airports; jails; parks and zoos; libraries and museums; hospitals and emergency services; building codes/zoning; and water and sewage service. City council members may also elect other municipal officers or appoint citizens to serve on boards and commissions.

Occupation Business Owner
Over the past 3 years, I earned and maintained my Certified Municipal Official designation through continuing education. I have completed training in city government, community/economic development, and municipal budgeting. My three years of service as an elected Forest Hill City Council member have also prepared me to make informed decisions for our community.
For 22 years, I have served Forest Hill as a volunteer, including three years as an elected City Council member. That service strengthened my leadership skills, budgeting, and problem-solving skills and showed me how council decisions affect residents. As a Forest Hill business owner, I also understand the challenges local businesses face. I will use that experience to listen, make informed decisions, and help our city move foward. More Progress * Less Politics.
I support posting clear agenda items & supporting materials so council members can understand each issue before a meeting. That also gives us an opportunity to share information with residents and hear their views before decisions are made. I believe transparency continues beyond the Council chamber. When a resident calls me, I answer and make every effort to listen, understand their concern, and follow up. My goal is to make decisions that serve the best interests of Forest Hill as a whole.
Support a clear, written policy that treats every Forest Hill resident fairly in city services, programs, & decisions. The City should use consistent, objective standards, train employees on those standards, & give residents a straightfoward way to report discrimination without fear of retaliation. Support making essential city information understandable/accessible to residents, including language assistance where needed. My goal is to protect residents, serve our whole community in compliance.
I support the City and its First Responders complying with federal and Texas law, I also WANT EVERY RESIDENT TO FEEL SAFE calling the police, reporting a crime, or seeking help. I would NOT support entering a voluntary 287(g) agreement without a public discussion and clear evidence that it would improve safety in Forest Hill. Our officers first responsibility is to protect and serve and that means PROTECT EVERY MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY! We must remain transparent & committed to our vision.
Forest Hill's most critical needs are better streets, a grocery store, stronger youth programs, reliable public transportation, and property tax relief. I will push for responsible spending, seeking grants for infrastructure, and transportation, and support economic development that brings needed businesses to our city. (grocery store). I will work with council, staff, and residents to set clear priorities, follow through on decisions, and move Forest Hill Forward. MORE PROGRESS * LESS POLITICS
