Benbrook City Council, Place 6

City councils in Texas each have specific responsibilities unique to their city. Duties of a city council generally include setting the tax rate, approving a budget, adopting local ordinances, and managing land transactions. City councils plan and oversee public services and facilities: police and fire protection; health and sanitation services; animal control; street construction and maintenance; garbage collection and disposal; transportation systems; recreational facilities; parking; airports; jails; parks and zoos; libraries and museums; hospitals and emergency services; building codes/zoning; and water and sewage service. City council members may also elect other municipal officers or appoint citizens to serve on boards and commissions.

Occupation Lead Auditing Rep
BA in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas, Denton. Professional background in customer service, accounting, and current as a lead auditor.
As a lifelong resident, my passion for Benbrook comes with a deep sense of responsibility to service and give back to the community I call home. My long standing familiarity with Benbrook, my formal communication education, and current community involvement as a Benbrook parent will inform my time in office.
In order to stay aligned with our campaign vision of preparedness and accountability, I would champion meaningful opportunities for citizens to provide input. My background has reinforced the importance of making information understandable and accessible and I'd like to increase community engagement by helping the various neighborhoods of Benbrook feel they are valuable parts of the conversation.
It is my firm belief that every Benbrook resident should be treated fairly, respectfully, and equally under the law. Residents deserve to understand what policies are being considered, why they are necessary, and how they affect them. My goal would be to protect every resident from discrimination while making sure Benbrook remains responsible, lawful, and transparent in how it uses public resources.
Benbrook's local law enforcement resources should remain focused on protecting the safety and well-being of our community. While I respect the role of federal agencies in enforcing federal immigration law, I do not believe it is appropriate for our local police department to take on the role of federal immigration enforcement through a 287(g) agreement.
I believe some of the most critical issues facing Benbrook are responsible growth, maintaining our infrastructure and city services, responsible use of taxpayer dollars, and preserving the quality of life that makes Benbrook such a special place to live. As Benbrook continues to grow, we need to make sure development is thoughtful and planned with the future of our communities in mind.

I am a North Side High School Graduate (FWISD) and have a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. I have also completed EMT school at the Emergency Medical Services Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
I have proudly served on City Council for 8 years. Since elected, I have helped steer policies regarding the 377 wall, provided direction to EDC for policy on new restaurants, and ensured there are programs to help commercial property owners beautify their businesses. I have always supported the SROs at our schools and that our Fire & Police have the best equipment we could afford. I have also served on the RCC board that helps to support the military base (JRSB). I am past PTA President at BES.
We already have parameters to to make sure public input is a part of all our meetings. We have public input about any agenda item at the beginning of our meetings and then at the end of our meetings, we have public input regarding any item. The only requirement we have is a 3 minute time limit. We do not limit the number of speakers nor do we require pre-registration.
I absolutely support sticking to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act so federal funds protect everyone equally. I would support Language Access Plans so residents with limited English can easily get translated documents and access to public services that they qualify for. I would also support a fair and easy process where people can report bias safely and without the fear of repercussions. Federal funding must be handed out using objective, merit-based rules, period.
I would not support a partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at this current time. I very much treasure the relationship that our community has with our police officers and I want to continue a positive partnership over a fearful one. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement needs to look at their own training program to make sure all of their officers are in full compliance before they can deputize officers from other departments from around the country.
Our most critical issue is funding our city services through property taxes. As an almost fully built out City, we need to find new revenue resources to continue fund and to increase funding our current services. I look forward to working with council members and our city staff to find creative ways to increase revenues without burdening our citizens through increased taxes.
