Continuing to use expertise to assist in budgeting and transitions in our ever changing world. Due to constant change in Federal and State guidelines, this takes both preparation and experience. I have been on Council for 18 years and attended for three years prior to election. Last year alone, there were 184 voting opportunities. To be recalled for one is a travesty. and not in the best interests of the 6500 registered voters in Mason. We have an excellent City Manager and have finished some major projects this year like the water treatment plant with more to come.
Housing, communication, and transportation are three issues. There is a nationwide shortage of housing, including low-income and senior housing. The state has some solutions for housing, including moving away from basic single-family homes and revising zoning standards. Communication is key, there is currently no newspaper, and many adults in rural areas are unwilling to use internet because of scams or an abundance of ads. There is a statewide effort to add in broadband internet and there is computer availability at the local library. Transportation to Lansing is limited although CATA has made some strides in changing that. Right now, volunteer efforts by churches and community groups are filling in gaps.
