Serving on the Glen Lake School Board of Education for the past year has been a privilege. It has provided an incredible opportunity to contribute to and learn from a great institution. We have amazing students, dedicated families, and truly wonderful staff and administration.
I am a Michigan Association of School Boards certified school board member, having completed the 8-course curriculum in School Board Fundamentals, Policy, Finance, Law, Curriculum, Community Relations, Labor Relations, Legislation, and Data-Informed Decision Making.
My experience in small business ownership and disaster recovery has prepared me to work well in teams, communicate clearly, openly, and honestly.
After my daughter started at Glen Lake 4 years ago, I began volunteering with the Glen Lake PTO, serving as Vice President for 3 years. In that role, I got to know our teachers, administrators, staff, and students. I was so impressed by the dedication and excellence of this community that when the opportunity to serve them on the School Board arose, I volunteered to support their great work and our phenomenal students.
Over the last year on the School Board, I have continued to see excellence at all levels of this organization, while still appreciating the needs and areas of improvement that can be achieved through dedicated, consistent leadership.
First, the continued pursuit of excellence in academics, arts, and sports. We need to use data to see what is working and where we can improve in the classroom, while continuing to support and resource broad extracurricular programs.
Second, transparency. I am committed to our board’s obligation to open deliberation. One of our main functions as a board is to provide accountability to our community for all of the decisions that we make and how our resources are used.
Third, review and improve our use of instructional technology. We need to understand how much time students are spending on screens, and if that screen time is helping to achieve the deep learning it purports to deliver.
Open communication is key to our success. Being engaged and present is the best way to ensure that. Beyond attending school functions, I plan to continue to volunteer with the hard-working parents of the PTO, and sit on our Parent Advisory Committee, which provides direct feedback to ongoing concerns and areas to improve. I can also always be reached at my school email.

Trustee Glen Lake Board of Education
Education
BA and MA in Education Leadership
Experience & Qualifications
I have been a teacher for 20 years in public and private schools in three states. I have been on Glen Lake's Board of Education for seven years and have served as the treasurer and trustee.
Occupation
High school history teacher
Since joining the board in 2019 as a trustee and treasurer, I’ve brought the hands-on perspective of a Laker parent and working educator to our leadership team. Teaching high school and middle school in both public and private systems gives me a practical understanding of how board policies, budgets, and curricular choices actually affect daily learning. Combined with my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, my classroom experience helps me ask the right questions and keep our focus where it belongs: on our students and staff.
I am seeking re-election to the Glen Lake School Board during an exceptionally exciting season for our district. Having served throughout the planning and execution of our 2024 voter-approved bond projects, I am eager to see these major campus improvements through completion. Our district is operating at a high level, and I am committed to maintaining our positive momentum, fiscal stability, and strong academic environment for every student.
Our board works closely with administration to set clear goals for Glen Lake. Heading into our upcoming planning session, my top priorities are:
Expand Student Activities: Increase student access to extracurricular, particularly the arts, STEM programs, and hobby clubs—so that all students have rich opportunities and meaningful ways to connect and grow.
Support & Retain Great Staff: Keep top talent by offering competitive pay, strong benefits, and a supportive culture. Outstanding teachers and staff directly drive student success.
Complete Bond Projects Responsibly: Finish remaining voter-approved projects on time and budget, giving students safe, modern places to learn.
Effective communication requires both active listening from leadership and clear, regular updates from the district to our community. Along with our two monthly public board meetings and district announcements, I focus on building connections across our district. As a teacher, Glen Lake graduate, and parent of current Lakers, I am constantly talking with neighbors, parents, and community members. Whether at school events or local gatherings, I am easy to reach and proud to bring your feedback straight to the board.

Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, currently practicing
Education
Bachelors in Nursing, Masters in Family NP, Postmasters certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health NP
Experience & Qualifications
Current MI Council of Nurse Practitioners Northern MI chapter board treasurer.
As a mother and practicing PMHNP and FNP, I bring a perspective grounded in family, personal responsibility, advocacy, and the well-being of our children. I believe in common-sense, evidence-based decisions, strong parent involvement, safe schools, support for teachers, and responsible stewardship of our community’s resources.
I am running at this time because I believe the culture and direction of our schools matter deeply, and parents deserve a strong voice in those decisions. As a mother and healthcare professional, I want to bring a thoughtful, common-sense perspective to the board and help ensure that our schools remain focused on strong academics, a positive environment, and the values families expect—especially as I consider the possibility of my own children attending these schools one day.
1. Preserve our small-school identity. Students should be known personally rather than becoming numbers.
2. Strong academics and high expectations. Being a small-town school shouldn't mean having small expectations.
3. Parent partnership and traditional values. Respect, responsibility, character, work ethic and accountability.
I believe effective representation starts with being accessible and willing to listen. My email and phone number are publicly available through Voters’ Guide, and I will remain an active member of the community where citizens can speak with me directly. I welcome questions, concerns, and differing perspectives, and I will make every effort to listen, respond, and bring the voices of the community to the board.
