With over 50 years in the electrical construction industry and 40 years owning and operating an electrical contracting company, I would bring my experiences in customer service, construction, business management and importance of developing/retaining dedicated talented personal.
After previously serving on the Marquette Board of Light and Power, I take great pride in service to our community and I would provide all necessary efforts so the rate payers are confident that their local power company complies with policies and is positioned to provide most reliable affordable rates.
1. Provide necessary support to continue to invest in Marquette Energy Center and pole/transformer distribution systems. The Marquette energy Center has been on line less than 10 years, with proper maintenance investment, there should be over 30 plus years of service remaining.
2. Secure plan to locate entity for beneficial use of Pine Hill Fly Ash product so site can be sold.
The MBLP will need to plan and be prepared for the 2040 state mandate as it is currently written. When mandate was implemented, there were compliance exceptions for several lower Michigan companies. The MBLP rate payers should be able to utilize their Marquette Energy Center investment and not have to incur additional cost since their Marquette Energy Center already produces low emissions. The MBLP must look out 10 - 20+ years and be nimble to adjust to possible state and federal laws and mandates.
