At the heart of why I am running is one simple question, "What about the children?" For 31 years, I have operated from a children first mindset. Before we make a decision, before we implement a policy, before we make a change, we must ask ourselves, "How will this impact our children?" I want to ensure that every child in Rock Hill Schools receives a great education, is prepared for life after Rock Hill Schools, and has a school experience that helps them become successful, happy, and productive adults. I am running because I believe every child deserves adults who will advocate for them, believe in them, challenge them, support them, and make decisions with their best interests at heart. I am running because I am one of those adults.
*Making sure our students are achieving at the highest levels possible and are prepared for life beyond high school. I would work with the superintendent, and district leadership to establish clear academic goals and regularly review student achievement data
*Supporting our Educators and Staff by identifying areas for support and ensuring resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact
*Ensuring schools are safe, welcoming places where students can learn, teachers can teach and all stakeholders feel valued and respected. I would encourage meaningful opportunities for students, parents and community members to communicate with school and district leadership.
Excellent Outcomes, Excellent Support, Excellent Schools
I am the most qualified candidate for this position because I have spent 31 years serving in education and serving the children and families in Rock Hill. My experience isn't limited to one position. I have served as a school bus driver, teacher, school counselor, assistant principal and an elementary principal. So, when I sit at the table as a Board of Trustees member, I won't just bring an opinion. I will bring 31 years of experience seeing our schools from many different perspectives. I have worked with students, parents, teachers, custodians, office staff, nurses, bus drivers, counselors, support staff and administrators and I understand every person in our system has an important role to play in helping our children succeed.
