Howard County Council District 3
The County Council holds the financial powers of the county, serving as a check on the County Commissioners. The County Council adopts the annual budget after estimates are submitted by the various county agencies. They fix the tax rate for county properties. They have the power to set local income taxes and wheel taxes. The County Council sets the salaries for county officers based on recommendations by the County Commissioners. There are seven County Council members, three elected at large, and one from each of four districts. They are elected to four-year terms on a staggered basis.

Describe your background.
Personal: Have lived in Kokomo all of my life, mother of 2, grandmother of 9 and a great grandmother of 1. Graduated from Haworth High school and Concordia University with a Bachelor degree in Business Management. Professional Information: I am a local 292 sister. I retired from the state after 10 years of service while doing my time at the Departments of Family services and Corrections. I retired in 2023 as the Director of a non-profit called Project Access, which assisted Howard County population with Dr. donated care. I have always been very community involved in numerous organizations and write grants for struggling non-profits. Have currently served on the planning board for the last 6 years.

Definitely, by serving on the planning board the last 6 years and other local organizations, I am very up to date on what is happening in our local government both for the county and the city. I also do my homework on key issues that are presented to the board.
1. Transparently and accountability between the county and city officials along with the public.
2. Elected officials voting records should be made public.
3. Review the budget to see if some area can be cut in order to keep our taxes from rising.
4. Listen to the people of the county and return phone calls of concern asap.
Talk to the board of health, talk to the hospitals, speak with doctors and communicate with the support groups to find out what needs they may have.
