I believe I have shown proven, practical and positive leadership for Rosemount. Active in our community since 1995 in youth organizations, 1997-2004 Planning Commission, 2009 to present City Council and Port Authority, I now serve as Mayor since 2023. My service is productive and results oriented with a vision for a planned and prudent growth community through our Comp Guide 2020-2040 and upcoming 2050 update to engage with residents to confirm, modify or change our anticipated growth and development. My construction project management background ensures disciplined oversight of budgets and capital planning. I support a balanced effort to provide a variety of recreational and quality of life amenities for all our residents.
• Broaden our tax base to limit residential levy pressures by continued development of UMORE Park and east of US 52 to attract retail, commercial, and light industrial businesses.
• City operations utilize technology and innovative solutions to maintain infrastructure and provide the best customer service for residents and businesses.
• Enhance civic engagement and hometown amenities by supporting parks, trails, arts, and youth programs to strengthen community connections and gathering places.
We will continue to utilize our website and quarterly newsletters with full posting of Council agendas, packets, and meeting videos online (streamed live and archived). As needed, economic project development and issues like water quality updates will be posted and updated. Our annual strategic plans and budgets will be publicly reviewed. I support our Council’s strong accountability culture, taking HR actions when necessary, aligning with our Strategic Plan’s “high-performance” ethos.
We invite regular public comment at our regular Council meeting, issue-based Q&A forums, and booths at events like Leprechaun Days and our Home Expo. Residents can provide input to our Planning Commission on zoning and development issues. We continue to expand digital tools and community outreach to allow for reporting issues or providing comments to Council and staff. I personally make myself available attending many City events, or by appointment for our residents and businesses.
Public safety is a top priority within our city operations. Public Safety, both police and fire will continue to be the largest components of both our operational and capital budgets. I support training in community-oriented policing, investing in wellness, and maintaining open communication with residents to build trust and proactive safety partnerships. I support actions being taken to reduce response time with the increase in the call volume we experience.
