I am running because Richfield is a community where people deserve responsive, practical government – one that listens across neighborhoods and focuses on safe streets, strong services, housing that works for working families, and responsible budgeting. As an incumbent I have a good handle on the pulse of the city, having been able to take the time to work with various individuals and departments in order to effectively know more about the inner works of how the city is run. In that way, I can respond to residents’ questions and concerns they have either by directly answering them or assist in connecting them with the correct city staff member who will be able to be able to help with the answer they are looking for.
My top three priorities are (1) housing that fits the city, encouraging housing developments that are both livable and affordable for all residents; (2) public safety, working alongside our public safety divisions to strengthen community trust while keeping city services effective; and (3) commercial development that encourages small businesses to be able to become established in the community as well as affordable rates for them to be able to stay.
Being a councilmember at large in a diverse community, I feel it is my obligation to be available to all individuals or groups in a variety of ways – whether in person, by email, phone or text. It is essential that every resident in the city has a right to be heard in a non-partial, non-judgmental way, having me listen to them and attempt to assist them with their concerns.
Coming alongside departments to ensure policies and ordinances are put into place while looking at budget items that are non-negotiable; i.e. public safety, public works, housing and commercial development, keeping them up-to-date. Other items that could be adjusted if needed may include low-impact or duplicated programs, streamlining workflow, administrative steps where possible, and non-essential “nice to have” type of spending.
