I believe I bring a genuine commitment to listening to residents and representing the community as a whole. I ask questions, seek understanding, and don’t stop until I have the information needed to make a thoughtful decision. I will approach each issue with an open mind, respect different perspectives, and stay focused on the greater good while keeping the City Charter and strategic plan in mind.
1) Listen, Represent, and Genuinely Serve Our Community: My first responsibility is to listen carefully and be open to all perspectives before making decisions.
2) Responsible Stewardship and Transparent Decision-Making: Keep an open mind and responsibly steward public resources being mindful of long-term needs.
3) Respect Our Charter, Strategic Plan & Responsibilities: Honest leadership also means understanding the framework when considering issues while being responsive to change.
I make it a point to be accessible to everyone in Red Wing, not just "my ward". If someone wants to meet in person, I make time. If they send an email, I read it and reply. If they prefer a phone call, I will talk with them. I even offer my time in my ward to provide updates in town hall forums when asked.
I believe transparency and accountability start with asking questions—and continuing to ask until I understand the answer. I listen to residents, seek the information needed to make informed decisions, and communicate openly about the reasoning behind those decisions. I also hold myself and the city accountable to the City Charter, policies, and strategic plan, while following through on concerns brought forward by the public.
