The treasurer is responsible for all administrative and management work involving receipt, expenditure, and custody of municipal funds, the investment and borrowing of money, the custody of tax title properties, and the collection of all money due to the city. Position may involve collection, treasury, debt management, benefit administration, bookkeeping, human resource duties and filing mandate reports with various agencies. What is the top change, if any, you would work for during your term in office? (500 characters)
I believe I am well qualified to serve as Lowry’s City Treasurer because I bring direct experience managing and overseeing public finances at both the city and county levels. I served as the City Finance Director for Glenwood for three years and currently serve as the Deputy Auditor-Treasurer for Stevens County.
These roles have given me valuable experience with municipal finances, budgeting, financial accountability, and responsible management of public funds. In a small community like Lowry, every dollar matters, and I understand the importance of transparency, accuracy, and careful stewardship of taxpayer resources.
I am committed to serving Lowry with honesty, accountability, and accessibility. I would take the responsibility of City Treasurer seriously and use my experience to help ensure our city’s finances are managed responsibly and in the best interest of our residents.
The top change I would work toward is greater financial transparency and organization. I want residents to have a clear understanding of the city’s financial position, how public funds are being used, and where the city stands with its budget.
In a community as small as Lowry, maintaining accurate records and strong financial practices is especially important. I would look for opportunities to improve reporting, organization, and communication while building on the systems already in place. My goal would be to make the city’s finances easier to track, understand, and manage responsibly.
