I have had the privilege and honor of serving on Crystal’s City Council for the last eight years. This will be my third term. I am proud of the work we have done as a council. I have learned a great deal and appreciate the ways I can participate in my community. I have always been an involved community member, going back long before my run for council – from Cub Scout den leader to serving on the Community Board of the New Hope YMCA with lots of stops along the way. I truly enjoy participating in my community in this way.
We need to continue our work on the Town Center Vision Plan for the short term and a longer vision for Crystal going forward. We need to create a more sustainable, walkable community.
The Blue Line Extension light rail project has a funding gap currently. This project has been in the works for over 25 years. We are so close.
We need to continue to reach out to our immigrant neighbors and business owners. We are all part of this community.
Engaging with community members is one of my favorite parts of being on the council. Currently I am the council liaison for the Inclusion and Diversity Commission. We are working on ways to make Crystal more welcoming. During Operation Metro Surge, I like many of us, reached out to our immigrant neighbors. I reached out to neighbors and immigrant-owned businesses. This has been a wonderful way to engage with community members.
Our council meetings are open to the public. A video recording of all are meetings and work sessions are available on the City’s website for all who are interested. I am happy to meet with people, as I have on many occasions, when issues come up. I am accessible to people when needed.
