Strengthening communities with sound fiscal policies to support affordable housing, good jobs, successful public schools, strong infrastructure, and access to affordable healthcare. The new Federal funding cuts and unfunded mandates mean we are facing very fiscally tight times that impact everyone. I’m opposed to new taxes on the hard-working families and small businesses, that means the Legislature must take a hard look at spending priorities. Protecting Minnesotans from predators, like data centers and private equity firms, because our state government should defend our communities and environment. Defending our democracy, constitutional, and civil rights because we cannot allow these hard-earned rights to die on our watch.
A big part of improving our economy is keeping money in the hands of hard-working Minnesotans. We must create a stable economic environment that serves everyone from individuals to industry. I’ll work to encourage livable wages while protecting small businesses; to ensure tax dollars are maximized and spent in fiscally responsible ways to strengthen our communities to support affordable housing, good jobs, successful public schools, strong infrastructure, and access to affordable healthcare.
Honestly, outside of overt racism and hate, I am not the most versed on this topic. I know the disparities exist across many aspects of society, some current and some tied to past laws or rules. I understand they can have immense impacts to financial stability, safety, and physical and mental health. I would love to meet with the communities in order to learn more, understand their issues and concerns, and work with others to help address these disparities.
Yes. I believe everyone should all have the same protections under the law. Less than that only allows for discrimination and that is unacceptable.
Due to cuts and changes to federal regulations regarding industrial pollution standards, Minnesota may need to review where we relied on Federal laws as the baseline and adjust State laws to replace the deleted Federal standards. This would not create a new standard for industries; but merely ensure they keep the current standards in place. Our water and air belong to everyone, including those yet to come. We need to make sure the resources are there and safe.
First, we need to fully fund rural EMS, we cannot allow them to fail because of insufficient funding. Second, work with and support our local law enforcement who are serving our communities with dignity and honor to rebuild trust, while holding accountable the unprofessional actors and agencies. We must rein in unaccountable use of mass surveillance systems, example Flock cameras, in order to protect our 4th Amendment rights.
We are seeing the immense damage to the citizens when the mega-wealthy work to serve themselves by influencing elections and politicians. On a federal level, I support the repeal of the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United v. FEC decision. On a Minnesota level, the laws regarding Super PACs should be reviewed to bring them in-line with the current PAC regulations. Additionally, the public needs better education about what these entities are and how to find-out who is behind them.
