Having lived the real-world financial strain as a working parent, I know families need direct relief on everyday necessities like childcare, housing, gas, and healthcare. I will work to lower health insurance premiums, cap prescription drug costs, and invest in our public schools to build a skilled workforce. By strengthening our local communities and lowering basic cost-of-living burdens, we empower families to thrive.
As a school administrator, I've learned that the best policies are built with the people they affect, not for them. I would champion legislation that directly addresses the root causes of racial and ethnic disparities in Minnesota, starting with education. This includes fully funding public schools, protecting inclusive curriculum, and expanding targeted academic support and identity groups to close opportunity gaps for minority students.
As a mom and an educator, I see young girls and women doing amazing things everyday. We need to protect these opportunities by ensuring in our state constitution that they cannot be denied any of their legal rights we have worked so hard for. I have spoken out very publicly to make sure that my support of the ERA is heard. It is critical that we codify the ERA into the Minnesota Constitution so that rights are protected regardless of who is in power.
Protecting our environment is about caring for our future and lowering costs today. Smart, local clean-energy investments can reduce utility bills, generate revenue for our cities, and protect our air and water. We can take meaningful action on climate while strengthening our local economy and keeping costs down for families. I plan to support local clean-energy projects, while reducing our reliance on large energy corporations by investing in community-based solutions.
Safe, fair communities are built on trust, accountability, and care. Public safety works best when we focus on prevention and ensuring people have support before crises happen. Everyone deserves to feel safe at home, school, and in their neighborhood. I support common-sense gun safety measures—like universal background checks and restrictions on assault weapons—to keep classrooms and neighborhoods safer. We must expand mental health and chemical health services to support our community.
Minnesota is one of the leaders when it comes to strict campaign finance laws. We need to maintain this to ensure voters are the ones deciding elections, not outside spenders. Public Contribution Refunds are a great way Minnesotans are letting their voices be heard. We must regulate dark money and corporate funding to make sure the majority of campaign resources come from individual donors and Minnesotans by advocating for transparent, accountable campaign finance laws.
