I have 42 years of experience as an educator, consultant and administrator in seven districts throughout Michigan. To meet the challenge of setting policy and driving school improvement, I have continued my education. Beyond my BA in Secondary English and Communications, I received a K-8 teaching endorsement, and two Masters: one in Secondary Education and one in Educational Leadership. For my lifetime commitment to K-12 school leadership, I have been honored by the Michigan Speech Coaches Association and the Michigan Irish Hall of Fame.
Over the past decade I have witnessed an attempt to dismantle public education, to disavow science, to rewrite history, and to replace critical thinking. I went into education to make a difference and I believe I still can. Whitehall District Schools is a strong district. I plan to support the current system and identify needs for improvement. To do so I will continue to put students first, provide a safe environment, and promote critical thinking.
Nine years ago, I chose to retire to the community where my four children were educated, and where I taught for 20 years. I plan to continue to be directly involved in the community as an active grandmother who is committed to preparing 100% of our student not just for graduation but for life.
