I have a masters degree in youth and community development out of Western Michigan University. I currently work for Muskegon Community college. I have served as a behavioral interventionist in multiple school districts in West Michigan. I am a native of Muskegon. I have family members that attend the public school system. I am a product of Muskegon Public school system.
My campaign priorities are metacognition, social emotional learning and participation in extra curricular activities, such as sports, arts, and music.
I seek to reinforce areas that Muskegon Public School systems are doing well and be a maverick to initiatives that need to be implemented from the voices of the people in practice.
I live two blocks away from Muskegon High school. I have family members that attend school in the school district. I’m proud to have a senior family that is graduating class of 2027. Through my employment I get invited frequently to Muskegon high school to talk to student’s about attending local community colleges as well as dual enrollment to get a headstart on their higher educational journey.

I was on this board from 2021 through 2024. In those four years we added STEAM classrooms in every elementary school and updated HVAC in every building, built a new middle school (during a pandemic), developed our “Portrait of a Graduate” to focus efforts on a shared vision, dramatically improved our students’ performance as they start high school with our Freshman Academy, empowered students to explore career opportunities with our new Innovation Academies of Muskegon (I AM), revamped our school lunch program to include more fresh food, more variety, and more student input, and reviewed and revised all our district policies. After many years, enrollment is finally growing again!
These are some of the outcomes I helped to facilitate.

I have experience in educational roles, nonprofit leadership, and working directly with families and the community. In my current role as Director of Programs, I oversee staff and programs, work with community partners, and make sure our programs follow grant requirements and compliance standards. A big part of my job is listening to the people we serve, working through challenges, and making decisions that have a real impact on their lives. As an MPS graduate and a current MPS parent, I also bring my own experience with the district. I understand that school board decisions affect students, parents, teachers, and the entire community. I would bring that perspective to the board and keep students at the center of our decisions.
The top three challenges I would focus on are academic growth, family engagement, and student attendance and support.
I would start by looking at the data and being honest about what is working and what is not. I also want to hear from the staff who are in our schools every day and from families about the barriers they are facing. Most importantly, I want to hear from our students. What do they need? What would help them academically? How do they feel about their school? I want to make sure our students feel safe, supported, and comfortable in their learning environment.
I believe my interactions with the community and school district will be strong because I already have a strong presence through my work and involvement with MPS. I plan to stay involved and connected with our schools and community. As a parent and someone already involved with MPS, I will continue listening to parents, students, teachers, and community members. I want to be someone people can come to, and I want to stay connected to what is happening in our schools.
