Since becoming a member of the Plainwell Community Schools Board of Education in September 2022, I have taken to heart the importance of my duties as a trustee. I have served as board vice president for the last two years and been a member of our policy committee. Additionally, I have sought to grow in my role and embrace best practices by regularly attending Michigan Association of School Boards annual meetings and trainings, earning a Level 2 Award of Merit while accruing more than 50 CBA credits and almost 200 education credits including completion of the MASB Board Presidents Workshop.
PCS is a top-notch district with teaching staff who work tirelessly to provide our students with a learning environment that is enriching and engaging. With that in mind, we must ensure our district continues to be a place where all students and staff feel safe, valued, well cared for, and welcomed. We must also continue to focus on student growth and help foster an environment that seeks out ways to support and sustain students' success while at PCS and after graduation as they enter college, further their education in the trades, or enter the workforce. Lastly, facilities maintenance and improvements must be a priority and handled with a continued focus on being good stewards of the taxpayer dollars that help fund those projects.
As a member of the Board of Education at PCS, I work hard to be an active listener who takes seriously the questions and concerns that community members bring forth. I've been honored to serve on the school board the past four years. If I'm elected to a second term, I will continue to strive to be a trustee who listens to the community and builds positive relationships with an understanding that success for our students and the district is rooted in a team effort that involves teachers, parents, students, administrators, and the Board of Education.
