I have three grandchildren in the Fowlerville Community Schools and I am very interested in their education. I volunteered/worked in my children's classroom for many years and since I am now retired I would like to serve on the school board.
I worked as an Instructional Aide and volunteered in my children's schools for many years. I was a board member in the PTA for years and started a booster club to provide additional resources to our schools. I served in the Army for 30 years as a Hospital Administrator and commanded several units. I know how to work with people and how to find creative solutions to problems.
There are financial constraints caused by declining enrollment which is due to school choice and declining birth rates. Limited resources due to financial issues are also a weakness. Some of the strengths I have seen in the school district are dedicated teachers and very active parent groups who support our teachers.
Since I have moved to Fowlerville I have only volunteered in the kitchen at Torch 180 and in the schools during book sales. I have signed up to volunteer in the schools again this year and plan to be more active in the schools.
