I have many years of experience on Village Council and am a former Village President. I am very familiar with the needs of the Village, and the resources available to it. I also have years of experience as a project manager. Each aspect of life in the Village is a project that can be managed. I have been involved in projects in the Village of Pinckney for street improvements, sewer and water maintenance, and village marketing and promotion initiatives.
The role of president is a service role. There is work to be done and the president is personally responsible to see that it gets done. The office of president in Pinckney is a de facto manager position that requires experience in project planning, financial planning, scheduling, human resources, and communications.
Every Village has challenges. The Village is small and provides a lot of services. Maintaining and improving upon these services: police, sewer, water, streets, refuse, etc., are top priorities. Promoting downtown development so businesses are able to come in and invest in themselves and the Village is an important, ongoing goal. Another top priority is improving communication and ensuring residents and businesses have solid information about the status of the Village, projects that may impact them, and learning what the residents need. The Village's relationships with the township and the county are vital considerations. These goals can be accomplished with careful budgeting, responsible management of village-owned services, improved documentation and communication using all available platforms, and engaging with the right people to move the Village forward.
This community is where I grew up and where I will end up. It is my entire definition of home. I am a parishioner at St. Mary. I am a founding member of the Friends of the Library and am proud of the work that group does to support library programs. I work with the committee that brings Wreaths Across America to the cemeteries each year. I attend most meetings of the Council and the Planning Commission so I can keep informed about what is happening locally.
