I am a parent, community member, and Alumna. I attended school at 5 of our campuses. I am a proud product of DVISD and my community. I have seen the impact that one positive decision can make.
I’ve always loved that DVISD had teachers with longevity, I always felt that this was a reflection of the leadership and school board members. When you listen you learn. I want DVISD to be a place where teachers feel heard, feel valued, and feel fairly compensated. I hope to bring a sense of belonging, when teacher and staff know that they are heard and valued, the possibilities are endless.
Firstly! I am the voice of the people from my community. Their voice matters, and decisions have to be made with our community , staff, teachers and students at the forefront of every decision that’s made.
I strongly believe that PARENTS are the foundation to the success of our students. Learning has changed and they need to understand how their students are learning. We have to start building the bridge and welcoming our parents back into the schools.
We need to be transparent about our financial position, when you understand how money is moving you can understand why and how decisions are being made.
I'm a parent of 2 DVISD students. Founder of the Gilbert PTO. President of ATD Austin, President-Elect of Austin SHRM, and a talent-development leader by profession. M.S.Ed, Purdue.
Attracting and keeping good talent is my professional field. For teachers, pay has to be competitive; we lose too many good people; and earned through honest budgeting the community trusts. But pay isn't enough: strong mentoring for new teachers, real room to grow, and leaders who give actual classroom support. I'll treat the job like the profession it is.
Our challenge is growth, not closures. We need sustainable planning ahead of it, without overreaching, capacity built to real enrollment projections, construction phased across new and existing facilities, and straight talk with taxpayers about every dollar. And, I'll work to hold our development partners accountable to get the new high school open.
Start with attendance and the barriers keeping kids from school. More than a third are chronically absent, and no one grows from an empty seat. Then a strong, supported teacher in every classroom, and early reading as the foundation. Work to build a real, immediate action plan for our lowest-performing schools. And measure true student growth, not one rating, honestly.
I'll protect the classroom first, making cuts start furthest from students. Getting kids back in seats also restores funding, since the state pays on attendance. Push our biggest taxpayers to pay their fair share, and report every dollar plainly. I support the VATRE (Prop A); about a $9-a-year increase on the average home. And press the state to unfreeze funding it's held flat for years.
