One issue the board will keep facing is finding and keeping strong teachers and support staff.
We are a rural district with a higher cost of living, so recruiting here is harder than it is in many
other places.
Another is carrying out the 2025 bond voters approved for CTE space, elementary upgrades,
buses, technology, and athletics. The board needs to keep those projects on time and on
budget, and make sure the new spaces are used to give students more opportunity.
We also need to keep strengthening student pathways. Dual enrollment and CTE are already
working. We should support options for college, the trades, and local jobs, not treat them as
competing choices.
Boyne City Public Schools is a wonderful district that works hard to help every student feel included and supported. Programs that are already in place—the Rambler Wellness School-Based Health Center, school counselors, anti-bullying policy, and the newly completed Portrait of a Rambler focus on being caring, safe, and compassionate—deserve continued board support.
If elected, I would focus on strengthening those existing efforts rather than starting from scratch
AI is advancing quickly, and our students will use it as adults. We should teach students to use it well, honestly, and with good judgment.
We also need to keep strengthening student's future pathways into adulthood. Dual enrollment and CTE are already
working. We should support options for college, the trades, and local jobs, not treat them as competing choices.
