District Court Judges preside over major civil and criminal cases, including felony prosecutions, large civil disputes, family law matters, and constitutional challenges. These judges interpret and apply Nevada law, make decisions about sentencing, rule on the admissibility of evidence, and ensure that court proceedings follow due process. Because District Court judges shape how laws are enforced and how individual rights are protected, their decisions directly affect public safety, civil liberties, and access to justice. Although judicial races often receive less attention than other offices, these positions play a critical role in upholding the rule of law, ensuring fairness in the legal system, and maintaining public confidence in an independent judiciary.Note: This is a nonpartisan race. The designation only applies to the race, and does not reflect the political affiliations of the candidates.

I have spent my entire career in public service and have seen the justice system from several perspectives. I currently prosecute serious felony cases with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office. I previously served as both a prosecutor and defense attorney in the Army JAG Corps and as a staff attorney for the Nevada Court of Appeals. I have also handled civil, administrative, and appellate matters. As an Army officer and former company commander, I learned to lead under pressure, make difficult decisions, and take responsibility for them. I know that public service is personal, and my combination of courtroom experience, appellate insight, and proven leadership has prepared me to serve effectively from day one.
I begin with the law and the facts of the individual case. I would carefully consider the language of the governing constitution, statute, or rule, apply binding precedent, and listen to the arguments presented by both sides. I would not approach a case with a predetermined outcome or allow personal beliefs or political pressure to influence my decision. When the law is unfamiliar or the issue is complex, I would do the necessary research and request additional briefing when appropriate. My responsibility is to apply the law faithfully, explain my reasoning clearly, and recognize that every decision affects real people.
Fairness begins with giving every person a meaningful opportunity to be heard and have their day in court. I would approach each case with an open mind, apply the same law regardless of a person’s identity, background, income, or influence, and base my decisions only on the facts and governing law. I would treat litigants, attorneys, jurors, witnesses, victims, and court staff with dignity and respect. I would also manage cases efficiently, explain my rulings clearly, and remain accountable for my decisions. People may not agree with every outcome, but they should leave knowing that the process was fair, the judge was prepared, and their arguments were taken seriously.
