The Clark County Recorder is responsible for maintaining and preserving official public records related to real property within the county, including deeds, mortgages, liens, and other legal documents. This office ensures that property ownership records are accurately recorded, securely maintained, and accessible to the public. The Recorder plays a critical role in protecting property rights, preventing fraud, and maintaining the integrity of real estate transactions. My priorities are to modernize the Clark County Recorder’s Office, reduce backlogs, improve online access, and make public records easier to search and obtain. I would expand the Recording Notification Service with free text and email alerts so property owners are immediately notified when a document affecting their property is recorded. I would also make enrollment easier and increase public awareness of the service. At the same time, I would strengthen cybersecurity, preserve records with reliable backups, and protect sensitive information. Clark County residents deserve a Recorder’s Office that is transparent, secure, accessible, and responsive.
I would modernize the Recorder’s Office through regular technology upgrades, secure digital systems, and staff training while maintaining strict standards for accuracy and record preservation. New technology should improve efficiency without sacrificing reliability. I would prioritize secure backups, cybersecurity, audit trails, and verification procedures so every digital record can be trusted and traced. I would also regularly review technology and vendor systems to ensure they remain current and secure. The goal is a Recorder’s Office that embraces innovation while protecting the integrity of Clark County’s official records.

I will Identify the current problems our employees have with the systems and see if we can get them fixed with training, procedure, software updates and tech support

We will also canvas other Recorders offices for their recommendations and experiences before we decide on what we need to improve the publics access and experiences. We certainly don't want to change to a "worse" system

We will also be adding additional inclusive internal AI software to scan for suspicious and foreign internet addresses that are contacting our Recorder's data system. I think we should at the very least red flag those attempts in our daily/real time reports. That data will help to take steps to prevent online fraud.
As a former Police Detective my natural instinct is to learn the current system our Recorder's office uses with the following questions

Let's see what we have in place first

What overall grade does our system users give our current system on access and usability?

Who created our system and how long have they been in business?

Do they have service technicians in Las Vegas? 24-hour support?

Who is the sales rep and how quick can they sit with me and my management team to discuss support services?

If we have to go out for bid on a new program, a major concern in updating our systems will be the cost of everything involved and will the level of projected improvement justify that cost? A question all county government offices should ask
