MCAD District Board of Directors, Place 1

Elected directors serve staggered four-year terms.Primary duties of the Board of Directors include hiring a Chief Appraiser, adopting the appraisal district’s annual operating budget, appointing members of the Appraisal Review Board, developing and implementing policies regarding reasonable access to the board, preparing publicly-available information describing the board’s functions and complaint procedures, and appointing and evaluating Taxpayer Liaison Officers.Please note: The Board of Directors does not have the authority to appraise properties or review individual property values. The Board also cannot grant or deny exemptions or take any action related to property valuation.

I will change the board's culture from representing taxing entities to representing taxpayers.
Extensive training in property valuations both from a mortgage appraised value and a cost to rebuild value. Having a background as a property developer, a mortgage broker, and an insurance agency owner, I am uniquely qualified for this position.
Growing citizen dissatisfaction with the tax appraisal process. I have challenged my taxes multiple times and am very concerned that MCAD is a representative of the taxing entities and not a representative for the people.
The Chief Appraiser must be fair and impartial as to valuations. Whether the person is an elected official, a schoolteacher, a blue-collar, or a white-collar taxpayer, there should be one clear standard for everyone. And a standard the people believe to be fair.
The process needs to be simpler and perhaps have evening/weekend hours to help taxpayers understand the appraisal system, their rights, and let the people have a bigger influence on the appraisal system.

4 year member MCAD Appraisal Review Board (2019 - 2022);
MCAD Board of Directors - At-Large Position 1 (2024 to Present).
Unprecedented population growth in Montgomery County and retention of qualified MCAD personnel to address the workload required to meet Texas Property Code mandates.
Attitude, integrity, transparency, industry experience, and experience within MCAD and with MCAD personnel.
I always feel there is room for improvement…within MCAD and within all other levels of government regarding transparency. However, my experience at MCAD these last few years has convinced me that the staff and management therein continue to strive for transparency in every facet of their duties and obligations to our property owners. I see that effort continuing.
