The affordability crisis is pushing Delaware’s economic promise out of reach while Trump is bulldozing over our Democratic party’s leadership. Housing costs, especially property taxes, rents and Delmarva rates are skyrocketing out of control. We have canvassed every neighborhood in the 19th District, and I see every day how bad this crisis is: seniors who can’t afford to stay in their homes are watching their grandchildren’s generation leave the state for more affordable places instead of putting down roots here. I’m running to fight harder for real cost relief for our working and middle class community: I support property tax relief, permanent free school meals, and stopping the data centers and Delmarva’s utility rate hikes.
I support meeting the full recommendations of the Delaware Housing Needs Assessment and building affordable, supportive housing to address homelessness. 25,000 Delawareans now pay over half their income in rent, and we have the highest foreclosure rate of any state in the nation. Instead of fighting this crisis, our current State House leaders want to spend $100 million renovating their own offices in Dover - just like Trump’s ballroom. As our state representative, I will fight to tackle the affordability crisis and stop legislators from spending our taxpayer dollars on themselves.
I support common sense gun safety legislation and have received the Gun Sense Candidate distinction from Moms Demand Action.
Quality healthcare must be a human right for all Delawareans, and I support legislation to hold insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and other healthcare corporations accountable for raising costs on patients while raking in record profits. I also believe we must address wait times for primary care and other essential healthcare services by fixing incentives that drive the healthcare industry prioritize profits over quality care.

Additional Information
I have lived in Delaware all my life and have called the 19th District home for most of my adult life. I have been married to my husband for 32 years, and together we raised two children who attended Red Clay schools. My husband spent 29 years working for General Motors, and our family has always been deeply connected to the community we call home. We also adopted Addy from the Delaware SPCA now called Humane Animal Partners.
I view education as one of the most important challenges facing our state, but I also believe we are making meaningful progress. We passed evidence-based reading legislation to ensure our youngest students have the strong literacy foundation they need to succeed. We increased starting educator salaries to help Delaware compete with our neighboring states & we have passed legislation focused on recruiting & retaining educators. We are also rethinking how we measure student success. We are moving away from relying on the SAT as the primary measure of high school student growth to a system that better reflects what our students are actually accomplishing in high school & we are making a significant investment in the future of public education.
Children in Delaware are experiencing homelessness, we worked on a pilot program that will help some of these students and their families move into stable housing. I, along with housing & education advocates, worked on an effort to pontentially provide rental vouchers to dozens of families with school-aged children who are currently living in motels or shelters, to get these families into stable housing . The proposal was funded in the FY 2027 budget to serve approximately 50 families. As we know, providing families with stable housing is not only a housing issue, it is an important part of helping children succeed in school. When a child doesn’t have stability at home, it is easy to understand why they may struggle to meet academic goals.
The General Assembly has passed legislation addressing safe storage and assault weapons, and I have supported these measures and many other gun violence prevention bills. I believe we have a responsibility to take steps to improve public safety while respecting the rights of law-abiding Delawareans.
Making healthcare more affordable requires systemic changes. We need greater competition in our healthcare system to help drive down costs, while also focusing on preventative care and making sure people can access healthcare early before small health issues become more serious and expensive. Delaware needs to expand access to primary care providers, specialists, and other healthcare professionals, especially as our population continues to age and grow. We need to make it easier for healthcare professionals to practice and remain in Delaware, while also investing in programs that recruit and train the next generation of providers.
