Jeff Appelhans is an early American historian with twenty-six years across classrooms, archives, public education, and AI-assisted analysis of large historical datasets. He is running for Senate to put war back under democratic control and insist on independent American judgment: no ally gets a blank check, and AIPAC does not get to decide who counts as a Democrat. His campaign starts with usable rights—protect digital privacy, govern AI and data centers in the public interest, and use ordinary law now while pursuing amendments where fundamental rights need a harder floor.
America’s most urgent challenge is power escaping democratic control: presidents waging war without Congress, corporations privatizing gain while the public absorbs risk, and AI changing work and infrastructure before citizens set the terms. I would restore Congress’s war and oversight powers; stop supplying weapons for what I regard as a genocide in Gaza; protect natural, privacy, and voting rights; break monopoly choke points; and require AI and data centers to provide worker voice, human appeal, transparent energy and water costs, and a public return. Rights must be usable, and power must answer to people.
Secure elections must be both accessible and auditable. I support a federal voting-rights floor, durable paper records, rigorous post-election audits, strong cybersecurity and funding for professional election administrators, and transparent rules applied equally to every voter. I would also attack the power that distorts elections before a ballot is cast: overturn Citizens United via amendment, require meaningful disclosure of political spending, and bar federal officeholders from trading individual stocks. Election security cannot become a pretext for selective disenfranchisement.
I put a voluntary money lock on my own money if elected and on this campaign: no PAC, party-committee, or other political-committee funds. Congress should stop surrendering its job. It must authorize war, enforce subpoenas, investigate executive and corporate power, scrutinize appointments and treaties, and pass appropriations without manufacturing default crises. I would expand the People's House by law so representation keeps pace with population; ban individual stock trading by federal officeholders; and require clearer public reasons, evidence, and conflict disclosures for consequential votes. Deliberation can improve judgment; it cannot become an excuse for inertia.
Congress should replace improvisation and permanent emergency with workable federal law. Create lawful, timely paths to status and citizenship; guarantee individualized due process and humane treatment; and fund the courts, adjudicators, and local capacity needed to make those promises real. Pair that with effective border administration and serious, evidence-based public-safety screening. A criminal-background label must not erase context, proportionality, rehabilitation, or due process. The goal is a secure, humane system people can understand and government can actually administer. AI will help build that system, for good or ill. Its governing code must be humanist law, shaped by our 250-year distrust of power—not left to vendors.
Climate policy should make clean, reliable, affordable energy a public right—not a blank check for private infrastructure. I would accelerate grid modernization and clean generation, use public investment to demonstrate measurable value before projects scale, and require data centers and other major loads to disclose energy, water, and emissions impacts, identify credible power supply and/or bring their own, bear the costs they impose, and return value to host communities. Federal procurement, research, permitting, and industrial policy—especially as we enter this new AI age—should reward real emissions reductions while protecting workers and household bills.

I am a Naval Architect, Marine Engineer, and mother of three running for the United States Senate because I believe government should work for the people—not special interests. I bring a problem-solving engineering mindset to the challenges facing Delaware families, including affordability, healthcare, education, safe communities, and economic opportunity.
The biggest challenges facing our country are affordability, healthcare costs, economic security, infrastructure, and restoring trust in government. I would work to lower the cost of healthcare and housing, protect Social Security, strengthen workers and small businesses, invest in American infrastructure and supply chains, and make government more accountable. As an engineer, I believe in identifying root causes, working together, and building practical solutions that last.
I support making voting secure, accessible, and fair for every eligible voter. We should strengthen election infrastructure and cybersecurity, provide reliable funding for modern voting equipment and voter-registration systems, require paper records and auditable results, and protect election officials from threats and intimidation. I also support secure early voting, vote-by-mail, and expanded voter registration opportunities with strong safeguards against fraud and interference. Every legally cast ballot should be counted accurately. Voting is a fundamental right and the foundation of our democracy, and we must protect both access to the ballot and the integrity of our elections.
I believe Congress needs to be more accountable, transparent, and focused on solving problems rather than political division. I support stronger ethics rules, campaign-finance reform, greater transparency, and reducing the influence of wealthy donors and special interests. Congress should prioritize bipartisan cooperation and practical solutions that improve the lives of Americans. As a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, I believe complex problems are solved by examining the facts, identifying root causes, working together, and building solutions that last. I would bring that same problem-solving approach to the Senate.
I support comprehensive immigration reform that secures our borders while treating people with dignity and fairness. As the wife of an immigrant, I believe we need a healthier, more functional system. I support a clear pathway to legal status for those who meet established requirements, protecting DREAMers, reducing case backlogs, improving legal pathways for workers and families, and strengthening effective border security.
I support investing in clean, affordable energy, modernizing our electrical grid, improving energy efficiency, reducing pollution, and strengthening American clean-energy manufacturing. We must also invest in resilient infrastructure that protects communities from climate-related risks. As a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, I believe in practical, long-term solutions that protect our environment while creating good-paying American jobs.

The most urgent challenges are the erosion of election integrity, runaway federal debt, and the hollowing out of American productive capacity. I will treat election integrity as priority one - citizenship verification, clean rolls, and paper ballots. On the debt, I will force real spending restraint and return Congress to its constitutional power of the purse. And I will revive the American System: protect domestic industry, invest in productive infrastructure, and restore energy abundance so American workers and farmers can out-compete the world again. A strong republic requires secure elections, secure borders, sound money, and a strong productive base.
I support the SAVE America Act and full citizenship verification for every voter registration and a return to paper ballots with robust chain-of-custody. Absentee and early voting should be limited and tightly controlled.
Congress has surrendered too much of its Article I power. I would end the practice of massive omnibus bills and continuing resolutions that no member can actually read. I support single-subject legislation, real debate, and regular order. I would strengthen oversight of the administrative state and reclaim the power of the purse from the executive and the bureaucracy.
I will support legislation that finishes the physical and technological barrier, ends catch-and-release, mandates nationwide E-Verify, and accelerates interior enforcement and deportations of those here illegally - specially criminal aliens. Asylum should be limited to those who apply outside the United States, and the credible-fear standard must be restored to its original meaning. I will also end the incentives: taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens and birthright citizenship for children of illegal entrants. Legal immigration should serve America’s interest- skills, assimilation, and numbers we can absorb. Sovereignty is not optional. A nation that cannot control its borders is not a serious nation.
I reject policies that impoverish Americans in the name of climate. The most effective way to reduce environmental impact while strengthening the country is energy abundance and technological innovation under the American System. I support expanding domestic nuclear power, responsible natural gas production, and research into next-generation energy technologies. I will oppose mandates that drive up electricity and fuel costs for families and farms. Adaptation, resilience, and American industrial strength - not managed decline - are the serious path. A prosperous, energy-rich America can innovate and adapt far better than a de-industrialized one.
