I am the partner/owner of a woman owned probate firm. Our staff of 20 people serve the tri-county area, providing estate planning, will and trust administrations and settling disputes, Guardian Ad Litem appointments from Oakland County Probate Court, and acting as guardian and/or conservator.
Our legal practice provides representation for clients administering a decedent estate or trust. We provide Professional Fiduciary services, both at the request of the Court and by private clients.
The nature of my practice allows me to serve and assist the wealthiest of our community through Estate Planning and Trust administration, as well as the neediest through finding housing, food and clothing as a fiduciary.
I am running for a Probate Judge seat and I have worked in probate law for nearly 15 years. The practice of probate is broad and covers a multitude of issues from estate planning to decedent estate and trust administration, to making decisions about guardianships over individuals with mental health issues or who are developmentally disabled… I have done it all. This gives me a broad and deep understanding of all aspects of probate.
Making a fair, impartial decision requires seeing the whole picture and truly understanding the entirety of the case before me. It is the probate judge’s job to make sure that vulnerable people receive the protections they need in order to prevent poor care and financial exploitation. This is my job now.
I’m a lifelong Oakland County resident. I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2001,
double majoring in English and Communications. I worked full time while attending Wayne State
University Law School, graduating in 2008.
I began my career as a probate court appointed guardian ad litem in guardianship and
conservatorship cases. I then served as a law clerk to Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge
Wendy Potts.
I’ve been in private practice since 2010. I specialize in real estate, business and liquor licensing
law, handling the acquisition, disposition and transfer of real 15a nd personal property and
practicing before municipal and regulatory bodies. My experience would be an asset to the
probate court, which hears cases regarding real and personal property and business interests.
I’ve represented individuals; small business owners; commercial real estate, condominium and
low-income housing developers; commercial landlords and tenants; business entities; and non-
profits around Metro Detroit and across the State of Michigan. I specialize in real estate, business
and liquor licensing law. I’ve handled matters including acquisition, financing and disposition of
real estate and business assets; commercial leasing; condominium development and governance;
corporate, LLC and non-profit formation and governance; the purchase and sale of Michigan liquor
licenses and interests in liquor licensed entities and associated state and local regulatory
compliance; and employment matters. I’ve also been appointed as a guardian ad litem,
safeguarding the rights of protected individuals in guardianship and conservatorship cases.
I’m known for my calm temperament, professionalism and thoroughness. My real estate and
business law background would be an asset to the probate court, which deals with property
and business interests.
My English and Communications degrees and transactional experience mean I have excellent
analytical, research and legal writing skills. I’m accustomed to negotiating business deals and
settling disputes. A probate judge needs all of these skills.
As a wife, mother and professional, I’m accustomed to working hard, balancing competing
obligations and meeting deadlines. I have personal experience with the things that bring people
to probate court, including caregiving and the illness and loss of loved ones. Having served as
a guardian ad litem, I understand the importance of protecting vulnerable citizens while
safeguarding their rights.
