The availability of healthcare in rural areas. People in our district have a life expectancy of 5-10 years less than all other parts of Missouri. Two reasons are accessibility to healthcare providers and transportation. Our district is highest in child hunger and overall food insecurity. Reading proficiency ranks in the 20th percentiles and math ranks 12-15% proficiency.
Supporting/Proposing legislation to recruit/retain healthcare professionals in rural areas and improving transportation. Fully funding public schools from the general revenue fund in addition to funds from gaming, lottery, tobacco which have currently fallen short. Support community gardens. Increase funding for food banks and school lunch and summer lunch programs.
