Sunrise School District Sunrise Four-Day School Week
Simple majority required.Ballot wording: Shall the school board of Sunrise R-IX adopt the provisions of section 171.028, RSMo, establishing a four-day school week for the next 10 years in the district of Sunrise R-IX?Summary: This measure would allow the district to return to a four-day school week in the 2027-2028 school year. The district has been on a four-day schedule since 2019 but the school district failed to meet a July 1 deadline to get voter approval to continue. So the upcoming 2026-2027 school year will have a five-day week. Supporters say the four-day week was very popular with district residents, has improved teacher recruitment and retention, cut spending and hasn't reduced academic achievement. Opponents say it hurts working parents who must find additional child care.
