I want Dubois to be a place where people can build good lives for themselves. My desire is to make the town government responsive to the people who live and work here. My wife and I operated the Black Bear Inn since 2005, and we helped my parents run it since 1986. This background has given me direct experience with the day-to-day realities of operating a business in Dubois. My career as a judge and service on many nonprofit boards taught me to listen carefully to all sides and make fair decisions. I will bring practical leadership and respect for the community I serve.
Every decision for the town I make must pass three tests:
1. Will the decision make life better for the people who live and work here?
2. Can we afford it now and maintain it later?
3. Does it fit the character and size of Dubois?
I will:
-Ensure Dubois fulfills its basic duties effectively; this includes supporting the Dubois Police Department.
-Make every effort to ensure Dubois has affordable housing.
-Make it easier to start and grow a business.
-Explore whether and how Dubois could support an Aquatic Center with a climbing wall and build one if it can.
1. Ensure safe, well-run, accountable town government:
The town must manage its basic duties effectively, including police protection, public works, water and sewer, streets, permits, and budgeting, while maintaining clear communication and transparency.
2. I will make every effort to ensure that people who live and work in Dubois are able to obtain housing and pursue business opportunities.
3. Quality improvements that Dubois can afford and maintain. I will promote building an Aquatic Center with a climbing wall in Dubois if the community can support it.
A vibrant and livable Dubois is a town where people can afford to live, find work, start businesses, raise families, age in place, feel safe, and enjoy the community’s beauty and character without losing what makes this town special.
