Education JD from Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University
I am a 40 year Arizona resident. I graduated from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. I have been a licensed attorney in Arizona since 2013. I have prosecuted and defended both adults and juveniles. I am familiar with Title 36 proceedings. Cochise County is my home. I have worked for Cochise County for almost nine years. In my career, I have conducted numerous bench trials, felony jury trials, and DUI jury trials. I have been a Deputy County Attorney at the Cochise County Attorney's Office for the last eight years. I conduct trainings for officers on testifying in DUI jury trials.
Cochise County has a Self Help Center where people can obtain legal forms both in person and online. The Arizona Judicial Branch's Self-Service Center also provides legal information and forms. I have seen unrepresented litigants utilize AI for legal research and writing. Arizona does have the Paraprofessional program which is designed to provide individuals with low cost legal advice and representation.
I would review the presentence report, the victim's input, the attorney's arguments, and the sentencing guidelines.
My concern is case backlogs. I would take inventory of the caseload to assess the status of the cases, any pending motions, and upcoming deadlines. I would work to resolve any backlog as quickly as possible. Justice delayed is justice denied.
