My qualifications to serve on the Jackson County Legislature are built on a career of service, leadership, and improving the systems people rely on every day. I began my career as a journalist on Capitol Hill covering environmental and energy policy before earning a master’s degree in Environmental and Urban Geosciences from UMKC.

For over a decade, I’ve led complex organizations and built a career as a human-centered design strategist, helping organizations, nonprofits, and businesses solve complex problems through listening, collaboration, and accountability.

As a longtime KCPS parent and volunteer, public education advocate, and single mother, I understand both how government works and what families need from it.

When government is designed with the people it serves, not just for them we rebuild trust. That’s why I’m running: to listen first, build consensus, make county services easier to access, and create a more transparent, responsive government that delivers real value.
My priorities for the next year are focused on rebuilding value together. That means restoring trust in Jackson County government by delivering transparent, accountable leadership and focusing on the services residents rely on every day.

I’ll work to restore integrity to the property assessment process, strengthen public health partnerships, support workers and workforce development, advocate for stable funding for public education, and encourage responsible economic development that creates lasting community benefit. Just as importantly, I’ll focus on making county government itself work better. This means improving how departments collaborate, increasing transparency and accountability, and ensuring residents can access services more easily and confidently.

In my first year, I’ll spend time listening to residents, employees, community partners, and local leaders to better understand what’s working, where barriers exist, and where county government can deliver greater value.
