Public Elected Offices Held Kansas City, MO Public School Board-Treasurer; Jackson County, MO Legislator District 1
Incumbent? YES or NO No
My priorities for the next year begin with meaningful property tax reform that protects homeowners, ensures fair and equitable assessments, and preserves the essential services our communities rely on, including schools, fire protection, and water systems. We need a transparent and understandable process for billing, credits, assessments, and appeals so residents can have confidence in the system. Fair assessments should reduce unnecessary appeals and create greater trust in county government.

At the same time, we must modernize county government by improving constituent services, increasing efficiency, and investing in long-overdue infrastructure needs, including addressing nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars in deferred maintenance. I will work to build stronger municipal partnerships, create equitable access to parks and community resources, and pursue targeted economic development initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods and revitalize key assets like the sports complex.

I will also focus on modernizing county government by improving constituent services, increasing efficiency, and addressing long-overdue infrastructure needs. Through stronger municipal partnerships, investing in affordable housing, crime prevention and targeted economic development, we can make Neighborhoods safer, while strengthening and revitalizing important county assets. Jackson County must also take a stronger leadership role in addressing regional challenges such as homelessness prevention and improving public transportation that better connects residents across county lines.
Public Elected Offices Held Lee's Summit School Board & Lee's Summit Mayor
Incumbent? YES or NO NO
I am qualified to serve as Jackson County Executive because I have a proven record of leadership, fiscal responsibility, and delivering results. As Mayor of Lee's Summit, I balanced budgets, built financial reserves, and expanded city services including public safety. I worked collaboratively with firefighters and first responders to increase firefighter pay by 63% through collective bargaining and invested in public safety and mental health services. As a member of the Lee's Summit School Board, I helped raise teacher salaries and expand educational opportunities for students. Throughout my career, I have brought people together to solve problems, managed complex budgets, and focused on practical solutions instead of politics. Jackson County needs experienced leadership that can restore trust, improve county services, and put taxpayers first.
My top priority will be restoring confidence in county government by improving transparency, accountability, and financial management. Jackson County residents deserve a government that works efficiently and spends taxpayer dollars responsibly. I will focus on addressing the county's property tax assessment problems and pursuing solutions that provide stability and predictability for homeowners while protecting essential services. I will also work to strengthen public safety by supporting law enforcement, firefighters, emergency responders, and mental health initiatives that make our communities safer. Finally, I will prioritize economic growth by encouraging responsible development, improving county services, and creating opportunities that help working families succeed. My goal is to deliver measurable results that lower costs, improve services, and make county government more responsive to the people it serves.

Incumbent? YES or NO No
I am qualified to serve as Jackson County Executive because I understand both the law and the real-life impact county government has on working families, homeowners, renters, small businesses, and neighborhoods. I have been an lawyer for over 12 years and have run my own small business for over 8 years. Over the years, I have investigated corporations for financial compliance. I have the ability and means to initiate the reforms and modernization that our County Government desperately needs.

Most importantly, I am the only candidate voters can trust to do the right thing once elected. After experiencing the 2019 Property Tax Crisis, I learnt that no other democrat was willing to challenge Frank White in the Democratic Primary to give our people a choice for real change. In 2022, I was the only person who challenged Frank White in the Democratic Primary and came within 4 points of winning.

Now, I am running again to give voters a real choice for real change in our County Government.
The first priority is auditing the Jackson County Government. Jackson County has a history of poor financial compliance. Since 2019, both State Auditors have given Jackson County Government's financial practices a "poor" rating. We have a decades long history of financial malpractice, which includes a $100 million dollar budgeting error. Within the first year of office, I plan to conduct the first deep scale audit of Jackson County Government. I will hire an independent auditing company and oversee the audit and investigation into our Government. I will use the information from the audit to reevaluate our County Budget and pass a truly balanced budget.

The second priority is to fix the Assessment Department. It has been over 250 days since we had an appointed Assessor. I will appoint an Assessor within the first 100 days and reform our Assessment Department to ensure that our property values are assessed fairly and in compliance with Missouri laws.

Public Elected Offices Held Trustee, Metropolitan Community College Board of Trustees
Incumbent? YES or NO No
I'm a Chartered Financial Analyst — one of the very few ever to run for office in Missouri — with 25 years spent reading complex budgets and following the money. Jackson County's finances need someone who actually understands them.

Why hire an audit firm? Elect an auditor.

I've been involved in Missouri politics for 16 years and currently service as an elected Trustee of the Metropolitan Community College. I don't owe anything to the insiders who've shaped the county's biggest deals, so I can ask the hard questions and put taxpayers first.

Follow the Money and put Working Families First:

1. Fix the Property Tax Crisis: Homeowners were hit with sudden, unpredictable spikes - I'll make assessments accurate, consistent and fair.

2. Bring Accountability to Big-Money Deals: Stadium subsidies and developer tax breaks should get independent analysis and real public scrutiny BEFORE they are signed.

3. Scrutinize the Insider Data-Center Deals: The proposed Independence Data Center alone spans 2.1 million square feet and needs over 800 megawatts - enough to power 400,000 homes - straining our grid and water systems. I'll demand hard scrutiny of every deal BEFORE the county is potentially left on the hook for the fallout.

4. Restore Fiscal Discipline: An independent, top-to-bottom review of county finances so residents see where every dollar goes.

5. Deliver Core Services Efficiently: Stop using taxpayers pockets as something available for insiders, and watch out for taxpayers first. View the role as a taxpayer advocate.

Public Elected Offices Held Jackson County Legislator in the past
Incumbent? YES or NO No
I was a Legislator for over 20 years in the past and worked with Executives Katheryn Shields and Mike Sanders. I know that by working together with the Legislators like these real County Executives in the past we can accomplish great things for the taxpayers of Jackson County. I have a track record of working well with others for the greater good. On day 1 I can step in and do the job.
I will restore the trust by repaying taxpayers for illegal assessments. I will demand accountability and transparency for taxpayers. I will work every day to make Jackson County a safe and affordable place to work, raise a family and retire. I will improve basic services by ending long lines and incompetent delivery of basic services.
