Community Service In law School I graduated with the Pro bono award, doing 80 hourse of supervised pro bono legal work for the economically disadvantaged. I worked for about 4 years for Southern Arizona Legal Aid. I am currently a Deputy County Attorney in La Paz County
Education BA-History, BS-Anthropology Michigan State University, MA-Anthropology Colorado State University, JD-Arizona Summit Law School
I've been an attorney for almost eleven years, for the last four I have been a Deputy County attorney for La Paz County. Basically a line prosecutor. I am quite experienced with the criminal law at this point, the first several years I was practicing in Family, Civil, and a touch of Probate law before accepting my current position so I have a broad diversity of legal experience in practice, which is importatnt for this role because aside from the judges that can be called upon from the Administrative Office of the Courts to serve in "conflict" cases the elected official in this position will hear all cases that belong in the superior court, across all legal practice areas.
The legal aid organization assigned to La Paz County is Community Legal Services (CLS). I plan on highlighting this fact to members of the community that need non-criminal legal services who cannot afford a conventional attorney and lobby CLS as an organization to highlight its presence here in La Paz County.
Whether or not there are victims in a case and I would listen to or read their victim impact statements as required by our State's Constitution and enabling laws.
There seems to be some equipment issues in the courtroom that need to be addressed by fixing them or obtaining replacements. The microphones at counsel's tables are in poor shape as are the mice that allow attorneys and self-represented folks use to interact with the court's A.V. system.
