Doug Basler is founder and president of Prologue Digital Inc., a Washington advertising and video production company, and has worked in media, marketing, and sales since 1990. He served as Vice Chairman of the King County Republican Party, President of the Eastside Republican Club, and currently serves as its Vice President. A longtime Republican Precinct Committee Officer, Doug has also been a candidate for U.S. Congress. He attended Multnomah University and has served as a youth pastor, worship pastor, and church volunteer while partnering with rescue missions, Union Gospel Mission, and The Salvation Army to serve those in need.
Policies that reduce energy costs are my top priority as the cost of energy effects virtually all other price indexes.
I support every effort to require voter ID and I will work to make sure every eligible voter has access to voting without hindrance or intimidation. I will work to increase voter confidence in the entire election process.
Protecting the environment is crucial so responsibly utilizing our energy production is a critical need of our time. I will champion clean hydro power, and hydrogen powered vehicles. I will also work to on-shore much needed American jobs so that families can earn a good wage.
Our borders must stay secure to prevent unlawful incursions and criminal operations. Immigration must be orderly, legal, and balanced with the needs of farming, industry, and employment needs of U S Citizens.
Homelessness, addiction, and crime are at historic highs. It's critical to use all available federal resources to remedy these problems here in western Washington and across the nation.

Families are being squeezed while corporations post record profits—and that's a moral crime. On housing, I'll fund affordable construction, back community land trusts and cooperatives, and stop Wall Street from buying up homes to hike rents. On health care, I'll expand Medicare's power to negotiate drug prices, cap out-of-pocket costs, and protect the subsidies families depend on. On food, I'll defend SNAP, WIC, and school meals, and invest in local farms so more dollars stay in Washington. Across the board, I'll raise the minimum wage, expand the Child Tax Credit, and enforce antitrust law against price-gougers. Congress swore an oath to the Constitution—not to a party or a president—and must be a real check on power. First: Prosecute the Epstein Files. Second: Audit 2024, and Elon Musk. Third: Impeach & remove corrupt officials, under Article 2 Section 4. Fourth: Real ethics reform and oversight for the Supreme Court, with teeth. I'll pass the Freedom to Vote and John Lewis Acts—automatic registration, protected mail and early voting, no partisan gerrymandering, auditable paper ballots—and shield election workers from intimidation. My family lived through federal abuse and won in court without lawyers. The Constitution held. Institutions protect us only when people with courage defend them. I'll be that person in Congress—restoring Article I and public trust that their vote and rights are secure.
We lean hard into renewables—fast—because the cheapest, cleanest power is what we build now, and it means good jobs here at home. Then we rein in the data centers straining our grid and water. Congress should *require* every new data center to use the efficient, off-the-shelf cooling and low-latency systems that already exist, cutting power and water demand *dramatically*—and to prove it before breaking ground. I'll fight for no-compromise protections for rural communities, water, ecosystems, and grid reliability—rural voices at the table, not steamrolled. And NO data center should be built to serve military or mass-surveillance ends. None. Real prosperity isn't just "growth"—it's industrial symbiosis, green infrastructure, and local economies that keep wealth, and dignity, close to home.
I know this cruelty firsthand: my husband—an honorable, 100% disabled American Military veteran—was illegally locked in ICE detention for 124 days until a Federal judge ordered his immediate release, calling the detention "flat out wrong." That, plus terror & murders on our streets? End ICE. We have courts for criminals. For two centuries we had no ICE, no DHS—immigration lived in the Department of Labor, because it's about workers, not warfare. We can do better: real security, functioning courts, no concentration camps on American soil. Congress must honor our legal duty to people fleeing danger, and open earned pathways for Dreamers, farmworkers, and the immigrants who feed us, build our homes, and power our economy. Order and humanity aren't opposites—together they're the Constitution.
WA-9 is one of America's most diverse districts—over 30% of us foreign-born, 60% people of color, no racial majority. So the issue is immigration, and it's personal. It's federal CDL rules squeezing the immigrant truckers who power Kent and Auburn. It's ICE seizing neighbors in SeaTac and Tukwila, a giant ICE detention center just down the road. It's H-1B workers who built Bellevue's tech economy in limbo. Washington's 9th is where America decides what it wants to be—and the federal government's job is to protect due process, fix a broken legal immigration system, and treat immigrants as the workers and neighbors they are. Working people are angry about the cost-of-living crisis, the genocide in Gaza and the endless imperialist wars. The Trump administration has carried out horrific attacks. But both the Democratic and Republican parties represent the warmongering billionaire class and are giving Israel tens of billions of dollars. Both have carried out a deadly neoliberal agenda over decades. I am running as an independent antiwar socialist. My campaign is based on my decade as a socialist on the Seattle City Council. We won the nation’s highest minimum wage, the Amazon Tax, free abortion, and unprecedented renter victories. We won because I used my office to build mass movements of working people. We urgently need such a shake-up in Congress.
I'm fighting for free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich, for national rent control, and for a massive expansion of publicly owned affordable housing. My Seattle City Council office led the fight for the Amazon Tax, which raises hundreds of millions of dollars a year for affordable housing. I’m fighting for a National Renters’ Bill of Rights against exploitative corporate landlords. I won landmark renters’ protections in Seattle, such as a $10/month cap on late rent fees.
I am fighting to end all military aid to Israel and to slash the trillion-dollar war budget and fund housing, education, and social services.
I’m fighting for a $25/hour federal minimum wage and a 35% raise for all workers with automatic cost-of-living increases above inflation going forward.
I support overturning the Citizens United ruling, ending the gerrymandering by both the Republican and Democratic parties, and defending against all of Trump’s attacks on democratic rights. I’m fighting for voter education programs, including mass voter registration drives, funded by taxing the rich and especially targeted for marginalized communities.
Millions of working people feel disenchanted by politics because most politicians serve the warmongering billionaires. My decade as a socialist on the Seattle City Council was fundamentally different. I used my office to win unheard-of victories through mass movements of working people. That is the basis on which we excited people to vote and had some of the highest-turnout elections in Seattle.
Time is running out to avoid a climate apocalypse. We need a lightning-fast transition to a clean energy economy and an end to all fossil fuel use, with free retraining for all fossil fuel workers, and a green unionized living-wage jobs program that employs millions of workers.
We need free mass transit, high-speed rail, and energy efficiency retrofitting of buildings.
We need to take big energy corporations into democratic workers’ ownership and reorient them to 100% renewable energy production. This is a vital step, because we can’t control what we don’t own. Capitalism is a myopic, anarchic system which offers no way forward — it’s based on billionaire greed, not the needs of human beings, other animals, or the environment, and is completely incompatible with a sustainable world.
Working people must unite against Trump’s ICE and deportations, which represent an attack on the entire working class. The bosses’ super-exploitation and marginalization of immigrants is used to undermine the wages and conditions of all workers. We must stand together to fight for better wages and conditions, and defend the right of all workers to unionize without fear of retaliation, including deportation.
We need to shut down ICE and the detention centers. As a City Councilmember, I fought for and won the “Right to Counsel,” for free legal representation for all renters facing eviction. We need to do the same for immigrants facing deportation.
We need to build an international labor movement to unite all workers in the fight for living wages and good working conditions for all.
The most important issue in my district and nationally is the fact that over a trillion public dollars are being used every year for genocide and imperialist war, while working and poor people are suffering a historic cost-of-living crisis. I'm calling for an end to all military aid to Israel, an end to all weapons and tech for genocide and imperialist war, and an end to the brutal occupation. I’m fighting to slash the war budget and instead fund housing, education, social services, and infrastructure.

If Democrats retake the House, my top priorities in the first 100 days will focus on lowering costs and improving economic security for working families. First, I will prioritize expanding housing supply and affordability by advancing legislation that incentivizes new construction, reduces barriers to building, and strengthens federal support for first-time homebuyers and renters. Second, I will work to lower health care costs by protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act, expanding the enhanced ACA premium tax credits to keep coverage affordable, and continuing efforts to reduce prescription drug prices. Third, I will support policies that address income inequality by raising wages, strengthening tax fairness, and investing in economic opportunity.
If Democrats retake the House in November, I will support efforts to fully exercise the chamber’s constitutional authorities as a coequal branch of government. That includes restoring robust committee oversight and investigations of the executive branch, ensuring the House controls its legislative agenda and debate through its rules process, and advancing legislation through transparent committee work and floor consideration. I will also support using the House’s constitutional powers, including the origination of revenue legislation and, when necessary, the impeachment authority, to ensure accountability, uphold the rule of law, and reinforce Congress’s role in shaping national policy.
We must also address the broader economic and infrastructure impacts of AI. The rapid expansion of data centers powering these systems is placing growing demands on our energy grid, which can drive up electricity costs for individuals and families. Federal policy should ensure that the energy needs of this industry do not shift costs onto consumers and that new infrastructure investments prioritize efficiency, grid reliability, and affordable energy.
We were told ICE would go after the worst of the worst, dangerous criminals. Instead we are watching them go into schools, daycares, and workplaces. We are seeing people who have committed no crime detained for weeks at a time without probable cause or due process. We are seeing citizens detained. We have seen violent confrontations, windows smashed, people dragged out of cars, homes entered without warrants.
ICE is overplaying its hand and violating the rights of people all across this country. We simply want the basic Constitution of this country and the rights of the American people to be respected during immigration enforcement. That is not a lot to ask.
The immigration system in the United States is broken and needs to be reformed.
I am relentlessly focused on cutting the cost of housing to lower our rent and keep families housed. In Congress, I have sponsored legislation to make it easier to build affordable housing, especially near transit centers. By slashing construction costs, reducing burdensome red tape, and bringing together local, state, and federal partners, I am working to get housing built faster and cheaper to address the affordability crisis head on.
I am also cracking down on Wall Street hedge funds that distort our housing market and drive up rents—introducing bicameral legislation to divest private equity from single family homes and allow Americans to build wealth through homeownership.
