I am the son of a single mom, a 5th generation citizen of Washington with grandchildren, very happily married to the mother of our four children, and enthusiastic about the opportunity to give back to my community as your representative. I started working at age 12 delivering the Everett Herald newspaper, started my career as a paid Computer Science and Information Technology teaching assistant 3 hours a day after school at age 16, and have been building my career upon that foundation every day working as a scientist and engineer primarily in the IT field as a management consultant. For decades, I have helped people who organically were not working well together to find common ground and build solutions together.
We must actively seek out and remove the obstacles to success for our people and the economic engine that empowers our unique American civilization. The biggest levers of power the government possesses to reduce the cost of living without creating more burdens upon our people are to remove unnecessary or counterproductive regulations and reduce taxes on both people and businesses. There are no good, honest, soundbite sized answers. I intend to build the relationships necessary to make the changes we need and take on all of these problems starting with the health care system. I have 7+ years of health care finance experience and intend to use that, working with others of both parties, to either make Obamacare financially stable or replace it with something that actually works for all of us.
Congress needs to provide national guidance and not ignore its constitutional duty to pass laws to regulate our election system so every legitimate vote is counted and nobody's voice is left out or canceled through neglect or mismanagement at the state level. This is essential to improving voter confidence in our system. Elections are the foundation of the peaceful transfer of power in our system of government. Our system should be open to improvement. The people must have a system that is transparent, auditable, and trustworthy. Anything short of that is a complete failure to lead on the part of Congress.
Our government was founded upon the principles of protecting and advancing life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for our people. People need to come first. Inexpensive energy is essential to not only economic growth, but also toward bringing manufacturing jobs back to our country and putting America First. With that in mind, we also need to be excellent stewards of our resources and the environment we all live in as well. Thoughtful and rapid expansion of all energy resources is the best path forward, with nuclear and non-polluting sources replacing non-renewable options wherever feasible.
Maintaining a secure border is essential to protecting our country, but also is the right humanitarian thing to do. We cannot have people trying to cross the desert, subject to abuse and death at the hands of evil smugglers and the hostile environment. That is not right. The unintended consequence of our open borders policy of recent years has been the death and harm of untold thousands of people. There is much we can do to improve immigration laws and practices. I am very much open to making things better for all people so long as it is not at the expense of the American people.
We actually face two huge issues. The escalating cost of living is starting to impact people to the point our children will have a lower standard of living than we have enjoyed throughout our lives. That is unacceptable. The federal government needs to do its part by reducing the burden it puts on our people and businesses that drive our local economy. The second issue is centered around our heavily export-driven economy. We need the federal government to be our advocate for the export of everything from aircraft to fruit. While I appreciate the use of tariffs as leverage to implement an America First foreign policy, there is much that can be done to enhance that leverage while also promoting American trade, especially within our export markets and sources of overseas raw materials.

I am honored to represent Washington’s 8th Congressional District, and am running for re-election to represent the district which includes much of King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kittitas, and Chelan Counties, and portions of Douglas County. I am a pediatrician, a wife, and a mom with deep roots in this community. Prior to being elected to Congress, I spent 17 years as a pediatrician listening to and helping solve problems with thousands of patients and their families across the 8th District, and I am bringing that same dedication and understanding to my work as your representative in Congress.
Right now, families are struggling to get by, let alone get ahead. That's why I've introduced legislation to immediately suspend the gas tax through the end of the year, spur clean energy development, crack down on insurance company abuses, and create more affordable housing.
Healthcare costs are too high, so I’ve passed bills to cap insulin costs, give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription prices, and cap out of pocket costs for seniors. But this Congress, my Republican colleagues slashed your healthcare to give a tax break to billionaires. That’s outrageous. I will always fight to lower costs and put doctors and patients back in the driver’s seat, not insurance companies.

I'm Andres Valleza—a homegrown Washingtonian raised in Granite Falls and shaped by the small towns too often forgotten by politics. I've spent my life serving our communities, not climbing political ladders. For more than a decade, I've worked with foster youth, families in crisis, students in hundreds of classrooms across Western Washington, individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges, and as a parole officer and juvenile counselor protecting our communities. I've seen where government fails and how those failures affect real people. That's why I'm running for Congress—to restore safe communities, make life more affordable for working families, and bring accountability back to government.
This is a core pillar of my campaign, bringing back affordability. Not just through high wage job creation, but through targeted, specific actions that will have positive systemic impact.
I'll start by permanently cementing recent tax breaks for seniors and working Americans. I'll go further by eliminating Capital Gains Taxes on home sales; helping seniors to downsize while keeping their home equity and increasing housing availability.
With healthcare it’s important to have a streamlined system where patients don't have to jump through hoops and go through ineffective treatments. That alone will decrease wait times to see the doctor you really need and costs.
We need to have freedom of choice and competition in the health insurance market, eliminating borders for insurance companies.
Preserving and upholding the Constitution is among the most fundamental duties of a Congressional Representative. America is built on customs, traditions, and laws rooted in that Constitution. To preserve its historical and functional integrity is to preserve the very institutions of our Republic.
For our nation to endure, we must believe in and have confidence in our democracy, our laws, and our institutions.
Voting rights and voting integrity go hand in hand. Together, they stand as a visible symbol of our American Republic—a nation of laws, order, and freedom. The right to vote, granted to every of-age American citizen, must be valued, protected, and defended because of its rarity, its sanctity, and its lasting impact.
Congress should not treat economic growth, energy needs, and environmental protection as competing goals. Balancing all three is not only possible—it is essential.
Economic growth brings jobs, opportunity, and stronger communities. But with growth comes greater energy demand, and without safe, reliable energy, families, businesses, and entire communities pay the price.
The answer is not to choose between prosperity and protection. It is to invest in clean, safe, reliable American energy. That means supporting advanced nuclear technology, cutting-edge fusion development, and the infrastructure needed to power our future.
Reliable energy will strengthen our economy, create high-paying jobs, and keep our communities, forests, air, and water clean for generations to come.
This is a very important question to me, shaped in part by the fact my dad legally immigrated to America. And also through my personal experiences, knowing field workers and farm owners, immigrants of all types, and stories that span the spectrum.
I believe it is important and I would like to see the focus of immigration enforcement targeted on jails, prisons, and custodial institutions for detentions and immigration proceedings with due process.
We need to make the H2-A process more streamlined, easier to navigate for the average owner, and more affordable. This will save us money, increase compliance, increase revenue, and eliminate the need for immigration enforcement at work sites.
Field workers, are just trying to make a living and they want to do it right, let's help them.
The 8th District is facing many unique changes, and with the right tangible actions, many of them can be resolved. In my experience, the best way to solve problems is to find the cornerstone—the foundation—where fixing one issue begins to fix a chain of others.
I believe crime, homelessness, and drugs are among the biggest issues affecting daily life in our district. But at the core is something deeper: too many people have lost a clear way forward. We lack access to upward mobility, career advancement, stability, and the milestones that allow families to build a better life.
My focus in Congress will be opportunity. Our government must create an environment where people can earn living-wages. Family wage jobs with retirement, apprenticeships and trades schools. A path upward and forward.
