Elected Experience: Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) for precinct 4449 from 2020-2022. With the restructuring of precincts, I will now serve as PCO of precinct 4465. Other Professional Experience: Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (SFC/E-7) serving in positions of Training, Plans, and Operations (S3). Retired Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Transportation Security Inspector (TSI). 6 years as a Federal Firearm License (FFL) holder and owner of Gun Haven. Education: Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics graduating Cum Laude with Dual Minors in Aviation Safety and Business Management, with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University – 2002. John R. My top budget priority would be to do a complete audit of the current budget. Once completed, the legislature would be able to target those specific programs and expenditures that need reduced funding or elimination altogether. One immediate program that I would look at is pre‑K expansion and subsidies. These programs in Washington State were initially funded by large federal COVID‑11 stimulus distributions. Washington State decided to use these funds to provide one‑time program expansions of pre‑K and childcare subsidies that now require permanent state funding, draining the Rainy‑Day Fund and creating long‑term liabilities. The problem however has arisen that many facilities benefitting from these payments do not have any kids in the facility, yet they still receive funding.
Restore in person voting. Mailing in ballots was voted into law; over time the voter registration roles have come into question as to their accuracy. Additionally, when you have people admitting that they fill out family members ballots and sign for children who are attending out of state colleges or universities, this does not add to the confidence level of the public. In person voting established confidence in elections with the requirement to provide proof of identity with ID. This process served two-fold in that the person voting is who they say they are and they are a legal citizen of the U.S. and Washington State authorized to vote in the State of Washington. I am not trying to get rid of mail in voting; people within Washington State should be allowed the choice to vote in person.
Legislative reform of how criminal sentences are handled. Stiffer penalties would help to deter crime and if a person still does the crime, then at least they are incarcerated for a longer period still making our communities safer.
Ensure the use of AI generated material is limited or excluded all together through proper and useful legislation.
I would support any changes that the constituents of the 4th Legislative District bring to me that supports the intended democratic practices this country was founded on.
Equitable state funds distribution. Currently, Seattle is the largest city in Washington State at a population count of approximately 754,195 residents. Spokane is the second largest with a population of approximately 230,293 residents. Then comes Tacoma Vancouver, and Bellevue to round out the top five populated cities. So why isn’t Spokane receiving the fair share of the money? It is because of the population densities of the regions. But this should not be the case. We should be getting more money than we are for road construction, public safety, and education than we are currently receiving.
