The House also has the exclusive power to bring impeachment proceedings. Although laws are enacted only when the Legislature is convened in formal session, policy issues and the general operation of state and local government are under continuous review by legislators serving on permanent and interim study committees.

I’m a lifelong Shelton resident, mother of a special needs child, and caregiver to my veteran grandfather. As a social worker, crisis responder, and healthcare worker, I’ve seen the challenges our community faces. I'm running to ensure our district is Represented by someone who knows the struggles working families are facing and will fight to build a community where everyone can thrive. I’ll focus on making life more affordable, expanding housing, strengthening our public schools, and increasing access to healthcare.
My budgeting priorities are funding of public and special education, affordable and wraparound service housing, and public infrastructure projects that would benefit rural and urban residents of my district. I would look for reform of our state tax system, encouraging and supporting capital gains and wealth taxes that take the burden off the shoulders of working families.
I believe that we must protect mail-in ballot processes, increase outreach to our rural communities, and work on issues that are most important to voters – namely, affordability, housing, and public services (including schools and hospitals).
Our communities, particularly in the 35th LD, need additional care that traditional first responders are not equipped to provide. I support the funding of comprehensive behavioral health providers in partnership with other community safety officers, including police. I believe in funding education programs to ensure officers across the state have the support they need to provide quality, safe response to a multitude of emergency situations.
More than ever, we must defend the right to free speech, including freedom of the press with state-level legislation. I will support any and all bills that bolsters this right.
I would support changes to the redistricting process that prevent misuse of power by any interest group or party that may want to misrepresent the values of a district.
The greatest challenge is affordability. Increasing access to affordable housing, ensuring public resources such as schools and community health centers are well resourced, and advocating for livable wages and economic opportunity can assist in making life more affordable across the state of Washington.
