In Washington we have a spending problem not a revenue problem. We have been overwhelmed by undocumented guests. We are broke from trying to support this mass of people. We need to prioritize our citizens first.
There appears to be fraud at every level of government. For years I’ve been asking “Can you name one state program not rife with pocket lining corruption?” Not one person could answer this question. I’ve seen criminal extortion schemes with more credibility.
While the mail in ballot is convenient there are no safeguards to insure only living actual citizens vote. I’d like to see serialized ballots with password protected access so I can follow my ballot and insure the things and people I voted for are on the ballot I submitted. Non Citizens who vote should do prison time and then be permanently deported. Stuffing ballot boxes should earn whoever is doing it hard time. Ballot harvesting should be illegal, while there is some justification for it the process has been perverted to the point that the biggest professional cheaters always win.
I would not be opposed to returning to in person voting with proof of eligibility and proper ID.
Lot of easy ripe plums to pick there. I’d say tackle the drug problems first. These addicts need help. They are someone’s sons and daughters. How many souls have we lost? Maybe a million the last 10 years. I personally knew several who have died from drug overdoses. All were beautiful people with bright futures.
Next we have to have punishment for people who choose to commit crimes. The way it is now criminals don’t fear the police and the court. I also know several people who got sober in prison and made something of their lives after they got out of prison. Each one was a wonderful productive person who really took advantage of their second chance. Justice swift and sure with an opportunity to have a fresh start without stigma.
In my voters pamphlet statement I called for media to be subsidized. There is a need to inform the public without biased editorializing. Just the facts straight and true people can form their own opinion. The mainstream media of today has low credibility. They have earned the scorn of so many people. If whoever is receiving the stipend can’t stop slanting the information they are reporting on they should not receive public funds and try to compete with the new de-centralized information providers.
I’d like to see gerrymandering go away. If anything the party not in power should have more say so we don’t get power concentration like we do now. A more geographically fair approach, colorblind, and not politically motivated.
I’d also like to see state Supreme Court positions chosen by districts so Seattle and King county won’t control everything.
Where to begin? I’d say half our problems in the 2nd district can be traced back to state government “helping” us. We have 2 good elected independent Sheriff’s. They operate quite differently but overall crime is down drastically. I’d like to see it stay that way.
Roads are falling apart. Thurston county, for instance, has “borrowed “ almost $50 million from the road fund with no intention of ever paying it back.
Illegal advertising on power poles and in the right of way makes our beautiful scenic area look like the city dump. Graffiti breaks my heart. I personally removed every sign on poles and in the right of way and removed all graffiti on Tacoma power equipment. Took a year or so. It’s back worse than ever. I did it without much cost to the ratepayers and can do it again.
