I'm a nurse, mom, proud grandma and former city council member. I grew up in a hardworking family. My parents owned a small trucking business, and from a young age, I learned the value of hard work by helping keep the books. I saw firsthand what it meant to make payroll, balance a budget, and work long hours to build something for your family. As a registered nurse, I've spent my career caring for people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I learned how to listen, solve problems, stay calm under pressure, and put people before politics. My work gave me a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing working families, seniors, and rural communities across Central Washington.

I grew up in Moses Lake and after graduating from Moses Lake High School, attended Central Washington University. I spent several years away building my career before returning home, where I met my wife, Valerie, and we're now raising our five boys. I'm the General Manager of Scotty's Auto Repair and have proudly served the people of Moses Lake on the City Council for the past ten years, including as Mayor and Deputy Mayor. I'm running for the State House because I believe every dollar matters, local communities deserve a stronger voice, and Washington should be a place where families and businesses can thrive.
My top budget priorities are the core responsibilities of state government: public safety, education, transportation, and infrastructure that supports economic growth. Before asking taxpayers to pay more, government should prove it is using existing resources wisely.
If reductions become necessary, I would start by looking for waste, duplication, and programs that are not producing measurable results. Every agency should regularly justify its spending through performance reviews, independent audits, and sunset reviews. Programs that are outdated, ineffective, or duplicate services should be reformed or eliminated before considering tax increases.
I would also look closely at administrative overhead, excessive bureaucracy, and unfunded mandates that shift costs onto local governments. Too

Having managed budgets in business and served on a city council, I've learned that every dollar has a purpose. Government should prioritize needs over wants, just as families do.
Public safety begins with enforcing the laws already on the books and ensuring law enforcement have the resources they need to do their jobs. The state should recruit and retain qualified law enforcement officers, support local agencies, and reduce barriers that make it harder to keep communities safe.
We must also address the fentanyl crisis by expanding treatment options while maintaining accountability for those who repeatedly commit crimes. Treatment and recovery should be available, but they must be paired with personal responsibility.
The state should support local public safety efforts, not replace them. Communities have different needs, and local leaders are in the best position to determine what strategies work for their residents.
Local journalism plays an important role in keeping citizens informed and holding government accountable. However, I believe journalism is strongest when it remains independent of government.
The state's role should be to promote transparency by maintaining strong public records and open meetings laws, ensuring journalists and citizens have access to public information. Rather than directly funding news organizations, I would support reducing unnecessary regulatory barriers so local journalism has the opportunity to succeed without compromising its independence.
I support maintaining Washington's bipartisan redistricting commission, but I believe the process can be improved. Redistricting should prioritize fair representation, keep communities of interest together, and avoid maps that unnecessarily divide cities, counties, or rural regions.
I would support greater transparency throughout the process, more opportunities for meaningful public input, and clear standards that reduce the potential for political influence. I also believe proposed maps should be evaluated for their impact on rural representation to ensure those communities continue to have an effective voice in Olympia.
The goal should be districts that fairly represent the people of Washington, not maps designed to benefit political parties or incumbents.
The greatest challenge facing the 13th District is keeping our communities affordable while creating opportunities for families and businesses to thrive. Rising costs, burdensome regulations, and uncertainty around water, energy, and agriculture make it harder for employers to invest, for families to get ahead, and for young people to build their futures here.
The state's role should be to create an environment where local communities can succeed, not stand in their way. That means protecting reliable and affordable energy, investing in critical infrastructure, and reducing unnecessary regulations that increase the cost of living and doing business. State government should be a partner that empowers local communities, respects regional differences, and removes barriers to economic growth.
