First, public safety must be our foundation. Families deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods, businesses deserve safe commercial corridors, and first responders deserve the resources they need to do their jobs. I support strengthening partnerships between law enforcement, behavioral health providers, schools, and community organizations to address both crime and its root causes.
Second, we need to grow Pueblo County’s economy and create more good-paying jobs. Too many young people feel like they have to leave Pueblo to find opportunity. I want to attract new industries, support small businesses, invest in workforce development, and strengthen partnerships between education and employers so people can build successful careers right here at home. My background in business development, entrepreneurship, and nonprofit leadership has shown me how important a strong economy is to the success of our families and communities.
Third, I will continue to be a strong advocate for public education. As a former School Board President, I understand firsthand that strong schools are essential to economic opportunity and community growth. I support fully funding public education, investing in educators, expanding career and technical education opportunities, and ensuring every student graduates prepared for college, a career, military service, or the skilled trades.
America needs a secure, orderly, and lawful immigration system that reflects both our values and our economic needs. We should strengthen border security, improve technology and staffing at ports of entry, and focus enforcement efforts on criminal activity, trafficking, and genuine public safety threats. At the same time, Congress should modernize the legal immigration system by reducing backlogs, streamlining visa processing, and creating a workable solution for long-term residents who contribute to their communities and meet established requirements.
Current immigration enforcement policies should also be reformed. Broad, indiscriminate enforcement actions and raids that target individuals without serious criminal records can create fear, separate families, discourage cooperation with law enforcement, and destabilize communities and local economies. Enforcement resources should be prioritized toward individuals who pose legitimate public safety risks, while ensuring due process, transparency, accountability, and respect for constitutional rights. Effective immigration policy should strengthen both public safety and community trust while upholding the rule of law.
I have confidence in the integrity of Colorado's election system. Colorado is widely recognized for its secure elections, which include voter registration verification, signature verification, bipartisan oversight, ballot tracking, post-election audits, and transparent vote-counting procedures. While no system is perfect and continuous improvement is important, election officials should always work to strengthen security, transparency, and public confidence. It is essential that every eligible voter has the opportunity to vote, every legal ballot is counted accurately, and the public can trust the results regardless of the outcome. A strong democracy depends on both election integrity and voter access.
