Cave Creek Town Council 2 years {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

Mayor and City or Town Council In Arizona, most cities and towns operate under a council–manager form of government. The Mayor is the city or town’s chief elected official, providing leadership and policy direction. At the same time, a City or Town Manager, appointed by the Council, oversees daily operations and municipal staff. The Mayor typically presides over Council meetings, represents the municipality publicly, and serves as a voting member of the governing body. In most Arizona municipalities, the Mayor does not have independent veto authority; decisions are made collectively by the Council as defined by state law and local charters. The City or Town Council serves as the legislative and policymaking body. Council members adopt ordinances and resolutions, approve the annual budget and capital improvement plans, set local policy priorities, and oversee city operations. They also respond to constituent concerns through public meetings, correspondence, and coordination with city staff. Most Arizona cities and towns hold nonpartisan elections for Mayor and Council, and four-year terms are typical. Why You Should CareThe Mayor and City or Town Council make decisions that directly affect daily life in Arizona communities. They set priorities and allocate spending for essential local services, including police, fire, and emergency medical services; housing and homelessness programs; streets, transportation, water, sewer, and trash services; parks and recreation; zoning and development; and long-term infrastructure planning. These officials also represent their communities in regional planning efforts related to growth, transportation, water resources, and climate resilience. Voting in these local races gives residents a direct voice in how their city or town is governed and how public resources are used. For additional information:https://www.azcleanelections.gov/how-government-works/arizona-mayorhttps://www.azcleanelections.gov/how-government-works/arizona-city-and-town-council-members

Public Policy Priorities Helping solve our community's water issues and continuing to help preserve open space are my top 2 priorities.
Qualifications and Experience Unlike 2 other candidates running for Cave Creek Town Council, I have previously served on a City Council and a Planning Commission. In addition, I have been the President of an Elementary School Board, President of a Youth Soccer Club Board, and currently am the Treasurer of the Cave Creek Museum Board.
Memberships & Affiliations I am a member of the Cave Creek Carefree Kiwanis, Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce, and the Treasurer for the Cave Creek Museum Board.
Endorsements The current Mayor of Cave Creek, Bob Morris, and other notable and respected community figures have endorsed me.
Community Service In addition to serving on the Open Space Committee (i.e. the one that helped recently preserve 4005 acres of open space for the Cave Creek community) and being the Treasurer on the Board for the Cave Creek Museum, I help keep the Cave Creek streets clean.
Education University of California at Davis: Major in Managerial Economics, Minors in Spanish and Atmospheric Science. I am currently attending the Desert Foothills LEADERSHIP ACADEMY sponsored by the Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce.
Given my education in economics and overall successful business experience, after thoroughly vetting the economic opportunity and confirming that it truly aligns with the Cave Creek community's needs, I would strongly support and help pursue such economic opportunity.
In addition to supporting the budget priorities for securing water and preserving open space, I would help secure resources also for fire safety, pedestrian safety, and overall public safety. I also believe in supporting our non-profit organizations within our community.
I would continue to be transparent and direct with the community and fellow Council Members. Given my previous government experience and current diverse set of business skills, I would only make the Town Council stronger and even more competent.
Since there is no 'I' in 'TEAM', I would use my team-building skills to encourage the Town Council to actively collaborate with the community residents, regional partners, and other levels of government to address shared challenges that our community faces.
Securing WATER for the future, preserving OPEN SPACE, and providing FIRE & PUBLIC SAFETY for the community are what I consider the most important issues. Overall, I love the way Cave Creek currently is...I simply want to help preserve that and help be a part of a team that tackles and solves the issues that our community faces, both currently and throughout the future. Thank you for taking the time to read my answers, learn more about me, and hopefully vote for and support me.

Cave Creek continues to analyze and evaluate opportunities for short- and long-term water security. We need to continue to allocate adequate resources to staff for this development. I am committed to fiscal management that does not require property tax to meet community needs.
Protect and strengthen current revenue streams. Prioritize public safety with additional funds for law enforcement, maintain our enhanced EMS and fire protection with Daisy Mountain; continue with current zoning and development processes for commercial and residential slow growth.
I am responsive to individuals by email, phone and in person for citizen input. The Town schedules a number of open forums to discuss issues and has used citizen task force appointees to resolve conflicts and provide input to the Council. We have outreach programs to include local business community and a supportive grant process for non-profits that benefit the Cave Creek residents.
We need a strong presence with our neighboring communities and the State of Arizona. I monitor legislative activity and trends, as well as economic trends, to make informed decisions that support Cave Creek. I attend educational programs provided by League of Cities and Towns, Arizona Planning Association, and CAP to enhance my understanding of complex and regional issues.
Stable and adaptable fiscal management to meet unknown economic challenges. Water acquisition and management as well as review of utility management options, Significant open space preservation and management. Resolving quality of life concerns for residents that include traffic and pedestrian safety , road and trail maintenance, and growth/impact from regional growth.

Municipal water security is our most immediate priority. We also need to present our town in a way that encourages potential citizens who agree with our values of open space and the natural desert.
Essential services include municipal water and wastewater treatment. The town currently owns those utilities. But we need to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of selling them to the private sector. Our balance between financial resources and both essential services and potential growth must be monitored to make wise decisions. Our financial situation requires no town property tax.
Our municipal government operations require us to make all decisions in public meetings. Secure executive sessions must be restricted to specific endeavors such as negotiations and personnel issues. I support that high degree of transparency.
We encourage residential participation in planning and other public initiatives. I have always welcomed public inquiries and position statements from citizens. Availability of elected officials is crucial.
Water, water and water. Our 95% dependence on Colorado River Water and our limited groundwater aquifer require us to seek the best ways to meet the need of our residences and businesses as we face likely cutbacks in our Central Arizona Project supplies, I also support the acquisition of 2005 acres of open space. The land is already zoned open space, but ownership by the town will ensure that the land is managed for the befit of the public.
