Elect Jeremy Hales for Sheriff
My top priority is building strong, lasting relationships with our law enforcement partners, city and town leadership, and the citizens of Wasatch County. A Sheriff's Office that is connected to its community is a safer one. I will establish regular meetings with partner agencies and local leaders, hold community forums, and designate a Public Information Officer to ensure timely, transparent communication. Accountability is not just a word to me. After 25 years of service, I know that trust is earned through consistent, open, and honest communication. That is exactly what I will deliver.
Trust is earned through servant leadership, and I have demonstrated that throughout my 25 years of service. Rebuilding trust within the department and with the public starts with a commitment to improvement and a willingness to keep learning. This office belongs to the community, and building that trust with our citizens is a top priority for me. I will implement an annual Sheriff's Public Accountability Report covering use of force, staffing, response times, and budget use so the public always knows what is happening in their Sheriff's Office. Inside the department, I will invest in mentorship, training, and open communication so every deputy feels supported and valued. Trust is not given. It is built every single day through action.
Strong coordination starts with training together and listening to each other. I will prioritize regular bluesky training days with dispatch, deputies, fire, and EMS so we build real working relationships before an emergency happens. Collaboration with all of our partners is critical to the success of our agencies and the safety of our citizens. By understanding each other's roles and responsibilities and creating clear plans to guide our efforts, we can provide proactive, seamless responses when our community needs us most. I will make sure every partner has a seat at the table, their needs are heard, and that we have the plans in place to make each of our roles as effective as possible. When we work together, we serve better.
My goal is to create an environment with a gravitational pull, where the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office is known as a top law enforcement agency that people want to be a part of. I will actively recruit at academies, attend job fairs, and seek out the best candidates. But our greatest recruitment tool is our own team. I will lean on our amazing deputies to share their story and show others that this is the place to work. I will invest in the deputies who are here today and the future deputies who will carry on the pride of the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office. Through mentorship, training plans, and genuine support, I will help every deputy reach their long term goals. When people grow here, they stay here.
Fair and consistent policing starts with the Constitution of the United States. We will follow it, train on it, and stay current on the laws and case laws that surround it. Politics has no place in public safety. Period. I am personally committed to impartiality and will hold every member of this office to that same standard. We will have clear policies and real consequences for misconduct. We will follow Utah Statutes and uphold our constitutional obligations with fidelity. I will build a strong working relationship with the Wasatch County Attorney to ensure a clear, shared understanding of the law. That is the standard I will hold this office to.
