I support the limited establishment of Data Centers (DC's) in MD where zoning permits. DC's offer MD a rare opportunity to expand its tax base, creating high paying jobs and lead in the digital economy - without raising taxes. Modern DC's use sustainable cooling systems that reduce or eliminate the need for ground water by recycling wastewater in a continuous closed loop system. Electrical Infrastructure upgrades have to be paid for by DC's according to the Next Generation Energy Act of 2025.
MD's aggressive climate goals are causing high energy bills. There has been a 50% increase in energy costs since 2020. I would pause and roll back the Empower MD Efficiency Program, freeze rate payer fees, and withdraw from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a multistate pact which contributes to high costs. I would also increase clean energy nuclear power production.
Yes. I would expand the Locally Operated Transit System (LOTS) program which provides transit in rural and small urban jurisdictions across the state. LOTS grants cover buses, facilties and equipment - often the only source of capital counties have to replace aging vehicles or sustain reliable services. Rural counties, such as those in my district, need more defined routes so that riders are not stuck having to ride or wait for a bus all day.
Pushing for structural spending cuts rather than temporary fixes, opposing tax or fee increases to close the projected budget deficits, and prioritizing fiscal restraint to manage state budget deficits. I would fight to restore MD Developmental Disability Administration (DDA) funding, and also demand accountability of all departments with
I support all communities in MD, including legal immigrant communities. America was founded by immigrants, including my own family. The legal immigrant community makes many contributions to all communities, both economically and in terms of diversity. I have helped immigrant constituents navigate housing and legal issues throughout my elected career.
