Carbon County Commissioner

Carbon County uses a three-member County Commission, with commissioners elected to four-year staggered terms. One seat appears on the ballot at a time. In Carbon County, commissioners act as both the legislative body (passing ordinances) and the executive authority (overseeing departments and staff). Because the county is relatively small, commissioners are often closely involved in day-to-day issues like road maintenance, public lands coordination, economic development (especially energy and mining impacts), and rural services. They also approve the county budget and represent the county in regional/state decisions.
