Salt Lake County District 5
Members of the Council serve 4-year terms (district seats) or 6-year terms (at-large seats) in a mayor–council system. The nine members of the Council are the county’s legislative body, responsible for passing ordinances, adopting the county budget, setting tax policy, and providing oversight of county operations. Councilmembers also represent constituent concerns and help shape long-term policy priorities for services like transportation, public safety funding, and regional development.
